So what is the drive through Baton Rouge looking like right now? Would I be better off taking the old bridge if I'm just passing through to get to I-12?

There’s a string of pirates pulling people over and siphoning their gas. Be careful

Anyone got any insight on Broadmoor in BR? Major transmission line runs right through it, and the tree casualties don't appear that bad from what I've seen (at least in relation to power lines). But I've yet to see any electrical co. trucks in the neighborhood.

I live a block over from Broadmoor High school. Very little damage ,one house took a tree but nothing on the power lines. Our power went out Sunday night at 7PM. Monday my next neighbor's power came on but ours did not , she is the only one on the street with Entergy juice. Can't figure it out. Have not seen any linemen.

It’s amazing and troubling that greater than 72 hours post-event the multi million dollar company entergy can provide zero reliable information so folks can plan accordingly.

Thank you to blutarsky for offering all the info you can.

Bapple - I'm in Iberville Terrace (Rue Villantray). You have more info about the area than I do. Any idea what circuit we may be on?
.

Honestly, besides knowing we changed circuits, all of my knowledge of my circuit has come from using google earth and Entergy’s outage map (which may or may not be accurate for if your area is live but it’s a basic idea of the layout).

https://www.etrviewoutage.com/map?state=LA&_ga=2.183671009.633112564.1630532750-361024995.1630289157

So for my circuit, you can see one red line crosses Siegen lane after highland road going towards Perkins. That has to be one that ties into my circuit but it also goes underground and goes multiple directions after that. The other one that used to feed my circuit is the one that crosses highland above the arboretum. That’s the 34.5kV overhead line that does a complete circle around the lake and goes underground at some point. As Blutarsky said, rarely do underground circuits experience a fault and blow a fuse. But for overhead lines around trees it’s pretty common.

So for any electrical troubleshooting, you simply follow the lines to the source if possible. I was able to get in my car and find those overhead lines but they went underground somewhere again and I lost track of them. I was hoping to find a crew working on lines and just ask them for an estimated time. That’s what I did the last time that tree was down on west lakeview. But as I mentioned before, it appears I’m not on that circuit anymore.

So find your house, trace the circuit, and then hop on google earth and try to find the overhead lines. If you have a double-ended system, you will have two power sources that can be switched (likely manually so there will still be some outage time if your main feeder goes down). If you’re not on a double-ended circuit it means you only have one power source so it’s typically obvious where it comes from. Once circuits starts switching around it’s basically a guessing game unless you have a one-line that shows the layout.

I'm hearing some troubling stories of citizens attempting to hook their own power back up and rehooking the power lines without insulated gloves or any safety equipment. This is very dangerous!

This should get some folks attention real quick. Maybe BRZ and wafb might report it , but to who?

No, but yesterday a neighbor of another neighbor who has a friend with Entergy said Santa Maria should have power back on no later than Thursday (today) but I’m taking that with a grain of salt.

Are you hearing Santa Maria and all the businesses on Highland Road north of, but adjacent to I-10, power issue is related to the Kleinpeter substation?

Thank Bapple. That got me started.

It looks like my circuit is tied to the overhead lines on Highland Rd in 2 places, if I'm seeing correctly. My lines are underground at the house.

Since I can see 2 connections on Highland, does that mean I have a double-ended system, theoretically?

Best I can tell, mine comes from the substation adjacent to Masons Grill, which also feeds Women’s Hospital. Women’s is on but nothing going northward thru or coming off of the RoW moving towards Coursey is on.

Denham Springs sub isn’t energized yet. It may happen today.

Once it’s energized, DS will start getting feeders online.

Assuming the map is accurate, then yes that is likely.
