Clearly you don't get the physics then, because the pain is directly correlated to the pressure in one spot, which is significantly decreased when the surface area increases. The action of landing on or pushing off is irrelevant, the total force is the same.

much like laying on a bed of nails, the more points for weight distribution, the easier it is handle... it's not that hard to figure out...

still, I wouldn't run across Legos, but I can see where it would cause considerably less pain than stepping on one singular Lego
