A lot of business post far less on Facebook than Instagram. I follow several that only cross post to Facebook once every so often. It’s also much easier to reference old posts on Instagram. Say someone posted a happy hour menu a month ago. On Instagram, the layout makes it really easy to find. On Facebook, there’s a lot more to scroll through and more ads.
Instagram definitely has the highest concentration of local business posts from what I’ve seen.

I wake up when I'm done sleeping.
Married my wife because she's awesome. No kids because we like to party.
Don't eat fast food because I like to cook and do it all the time.
We go on multiple trips every year. Last year we did new Orleans twice, the beach, and San Francisco/Napa.
This year were doing New Orleans, Austin, Boston, a lake house in South Carolina, and a longer trip to SF/Napa/Sonoma.
Man does that suck!

I tend to agree. I think most people aren't miserable, and they mistake that for happiness.
When I look at behaviors of most of america, it screams that they aren't happy. any sort of conspicuous consumption screams to me that you are at the heart dissatisfied with something in your life.

that's b/c it's the newer platform. it's all cyclical
when the new platform comes out, isnta will be like FB is now..but most of that shite is still cross posted (unless they're overtly trying to appear cool/trendy, ie, FB is beneath it)

I think the people that follow social media, listen to celeb gossip, and are envious of Hollywood's "elite" lifestyle are the most pathetic people on the planet.

I've found a good balance on Instagram, although I understand how it can be as problematic as any other SM.
It helps that I'm not friends w/ very many people from my hometown on there, so I get very little "I'm a mom, praise me" or "OMG take this survey" or "woe is me" stuff on there. It's mostly well-adjusted college friends showing off their family or people traveling or local breweries telling me about specials.

Well that’s a new topic, but sure you aren’t wrong. You said you see no value to Instagram. Not that Instagram was cyclical. But yeah I agree with that.

Why? New Orleans is a great city. We go for Mardi gras every year. FIL has ridden for 40+ years and I'm riding again this year in Bacchus. We spent our anniversary there last year at commander's too.

Same. I specifically rejected friend requests from people I went to high school with (but am not friends with) and strictly added actual friends and local businesses when I started on Instagram 7 years ago. Now it’s the only app I can open and see exactly what I want to see.

You're right, I think
Of course, I'm a hypocrite because I'm pretty content overall but I love stuff. But I think something that helps is actually liking the stuff you're consuming/purchasing. I just like the shite I buy, it's fun, it entertains me. It's not intended to compete with what someone else in my office or neighborhood bought.
