Do they just go along with it because it is a fake holiday for them and they can give/receive gifts and great deals, and Christmas bonuses? Or do they actually celebrate the birth of Jesus?

Are they taking advantage of this holiday?

I don’t think too many Christians actually think about Jesus on Christmas either tbh.

I guess it’s kind of how people who hate America still celebrate 4th of July

Who fricking cares? Maybe 2% of Christians actually celebrate Christmas for the religious reason.

The majority just like to dress like assholes to send a card that no one wants to people who already see their obnoxious family photos on Instagram anyway.

Another useless hypothetical that isn’t realistic. May we complain about singles celebrating Valentine’s Day as well?

More of a culture thing due to upbringing

Jesus wasn’t born in December. This date was chosen to still let pagans keep their winter solstice celebration. Just one of the many scams in religion

I’m an atheist. I celebrate Christmas for lots of reasons, primarily because I was brought up celebrating it. I love getting together with friends and family. I like giving presents. I like the festivities and the holiday cheer. I like coming home for it. I like the music and the movies, warm fires and good food/drinks.

In a certain sense I even like the religious aspects of it, maybe the reverence/time for reflection but also the deep cultural significance that comes with it.

I celebrate Santa Clause. Since when do christians/muslims/mormons/zoastrians/budists/polytheist think there is something wrong with celebrating a made up story?

Its a commercialized holiday that has drifted way off from what it was intended for anyway so does it really matter?

the "holiday" was created in Victorian England and had more germanic and druid traditions than Christian
and consumerism was always part of it

That was an awesome response. I didn’t mean to sound like an a-hole for my question, I have just always wondered

A non confrontational atheist about the birth of Jesus....This is a breath of fresh air imho.
