Actually there are some valid historical reasons to accept the December 25 date as being correct

re: Atheists who celebrate Christmas
I am not an Atheist, but not a practicing Christian either. I'm somewhere closer to Agnostic I think. Organized religion is just garbage for the most part.

And I celebrate Christmas because Santa Claus and giving/receiving gifts is fun as shite. I love Christmas lights and trees, etc. Most Christmas traditions like trees, etc. are actually Pagan, not Christian.

No, I don't go to church or celebrate Jesus in any intentional way.

I’m an atheist. I celebrate Christmas for lots of reasons, primarily because I was brought up celebrating it. I love getting together with friends and family. I like giving presents. I like the festivities and the holiday cheer. I like coming home for it. I like the music and the movies, warm fires and good food/drinks.

In a certain sense I even like the religious aspects of it, maybe the reverence/time for reflection but also the deep cultural significance that comes with it.

Here's you answer, OP.

/end thread.

A non confrontational atheist about the birth of Jesus....This is a breath of fresh air imho.

The atheists who complain about religious symbols and whatnot are a very small minority. They just happen to be vocal...and a-holes. Christmas is my favorite time of the year. I love the lights, trees, time with friends and family, and I don't give a shite if they want to put a giant cross in the middle of the town square.

It's also in their name, there is a reason they want to be called Satanists.

Christmas bonuses

Those "Christmas bonuses" arent given to people because they're Christian, companies would be sued to hell if they gave bonuses based on religious beliefs. Those bonuses are typically just bonuses for being with the company throughout the year. They're given before Christmas because its toward the end of the year, and because most people could use the extra cash for Christmas shopping. But it's not mandated that the bonus be used for Christmas shopping, but it just so happens that it's what its frequently used for, hence the name.

re: Atheists who celebrate Christmas
Christmas bonuses (does any company even call them that now?) are more based off the end of the fiscal year and a company can give out bonuses based on last years profits. If the fiscal year started in January, you would get it after Christmas.
