LOS ANGELES (AP) — Authorities have arrested at least one person in connection with Matthew Perry’s death, a law enforcement official tells The Associated Press.
The official was not authorized to discuss details of the ongoing investigation and spoke to AP on condition of anonymity. Authorities have scheduled a news conference in Los Angeles to announce details in the case later Thursday morning.
Los Angeles police said in May that they were working with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service with a probe into why the 54-year-old had so much of the surgical anesthetic in his system.
An assistant found Perry face down in his hot tub on Oct. 28, and paramedics who were called immediately declared him dead.
His autopsy, released in December, found that the amount of ketamine in his blood was in the range used for general anesthesia during surgery.

Drug addicts overdose and die all the time but because he was famous we have to find someone to blame.

Maybe we can arrest a "doctor" prescribing "medication"?

I mean people who provide the drugs to those addicts get arrested all of the time too.

Does law enforcement routinely pursue the drug dealer who supplied a drug that lead to an overdose? If it's a homeless person, not really, right? If it's a child, definitely. If it's a famous person, maybe?
It's illegal to deal drugs to anyone, but why the inconsistency? Public pressure for certain cases I guess?

don't know about "routinely", but someone I knew OD'd a few years go.
and they did find and arrest her supplier.

I'd assume it's because it was a surgical anesthetic and they've tracked down the source to a doctor who prescribed it.

They just arrested a pusher from the Florida parishes for selling Fentanyl. One of his customers died of an overdose. The dealer is being charged with second degree murder.

So people who provide them with these drugs shouldn't be held accountable?

Well, it's time to sue the AFL/EICIO in that case.

Some of the details emerging on this are wild.
Apparently doctors were prescribing it to him and gouging him for it and texted each other these exact words "I wonder how much this moron will pay?"
Among many other things.

Disturbing details on Matthew Perry's death investigation, per the the US Attorney's Office & DEA...
* 5 defendants, including 2 doctors & Perry's live-in assistant, have been charged in connection with the actor's death.
* Perry became addicted to ketamine when seeking treatment. He was taken advantage of by doctors who sold him ketamine for thousands of dollars.
* Text messages between the 2 doctors reveal they knew they were taking advantage of Perry: “I wonder how much this moron will pay."
* One of the doctors sold ketamine to Perry's live-in assistant & taught the assistant how to inject Perry with the ketamine, knowing he was not a medical professional.
* Perry then sought to obtain ketamine for less money than from doctors, so he obtained drugs from "street dealers" via his assistant, per the DEA.
* The ketamine that ultimately led to Perry's death was sold by these street dealers. Perry's assistant was the one who injected the ketamine on October 28, 2023 – the day Perry died.
* After Perry’s death was reported in the news, one of the street dealers text the other: “Delete all our messages.”

I'm not surprised his assistant was involved. Such a waste.

These days they do. A lot of effort into serious prosecution into the fentanyl suppliers and dealers because too many middle class white people be dyin'.
They're throwing murder charges at these people. I, anecdotally, have a friend from an upper-middle class family that lost his little brother in Georgia. He was a drug addict, but the dealer is still getting some type of murder charges and he apparently rolled on the supplier, who is also getting a book thrown at him.
