No the OP was about the mortality rate, not infection rate. So good sir, why is it that I should be worried about this? I still am struggling why something that has a perceived 1% mortality rate that at most infects 1% of people means we need to stop all sense of normalcy.

Not how it reads.
You said there were only 2200 cases.

Ahh thanks. By cases the intent was mortalities. I do recognize we have 120k cases with a doubling rate of 5 days or so at the time.

Earlier today we had 2200 cases. Assuming we have 330M people... then we have a 99.9993% survival rate. Not shabby. Good thing we crashed the economy for the 0.0007%!
ETA- for clarity the 2200 reference above is mortalities. That number was as of 4ish pm I believe.
This is some next level shite here

Thanks for throwing them a softball.
Don’t post again.

by your logic, gunshots right to the face have a 99% survival rate
I got shot in the face with a 20 gauge at 10 steps. I was 10yrs old.......survival rate might actually be pretty decent under such circumstances

I agree that the fear porn is outrageous, but you are pathetically wrong with your data. Based on your points, check in tomorrow.
Per capita, we're doing alright. Especially if we take out NYC (which is a different case to the rest of America).
Let's use our mind-brains.

So many questions.
Assuming birdshot?
Just a few bb's got your face, or most of the shot?
Your eyes ok?
WHO THE frick SHOT YOU?
Did you require any special care or just like bandages?
Scars?

Precisely. Have we shut down everything we do for cancer?
Dude please give up. Your ignorance should cause you to start using an alter. You have ruined your CaptainJ47 name.

I hope you are one of the .0007%. It would be a net benefit to society

Oh look, another idiot that thinks we could go about our normal lives and the numbers would still be the same.
I really wish we could run an experiment where in one bubble nothing changes, and the second shows the precautionary measures that have been taken.
Maybe then dumbasses could shut the hell up about this.
This dude should be banned just for his completely thoughtless commentary on cancer. No way is this guy in healthcare if he thinks you can "spread" cancer from one person to another.
Posted on 3/29/20 at 6:30 am to CaptainJ47
Yeah, that’s not how you figure that.
Posted on 3/29/20 at 6:40 am to CaptainJ47
you missed testing 98.888% of them.

You wanna see chaos? Open everything up right now with a fricking virus that can mask itself in one person and jump to every person they come into contact with without ever showing the slightest symptoms.
Yep. That's why I think we are still about 4 weeks from opening things back up.

I'm pretty sure we are running that experiment. Just use South Korea as the one with precautionary measures, and Florida as the one that isn't.
Or even Washington State. They have had the virus for weeks, and Florida eclipsed them in cases in a matter of days.

South Korea went full lockdown with masks while spring breakers were using chicks asscracks as a vodka funnel

Thank you!
Amazing the statisticians and epidemiologists that have surfaced through all this.
If as a nation we wouldn’t have quarantined and tried to slow the spread, we’d have new shiny numbers to play with and basing our assumptions on the numbers we have post efforts makes us straight up dumbasses. Might want to extrapolate our data.
The flu taxes our healthcare system each year over a span of MONTHS ... this shite isn’t going to pull a number and wait in line for an open bed.
So glad and hoping less people from this school of thought are in charge of major decisions. We will never beat this with the “I know better” mentality that most self-centered entitled Americans possess these days.
So many professions are fighting for our asses to get back to normal and making daily sacrifices, the least we can do is oblige them by relaxing at home and letting the plan of action work.
I’m so tired of having to listen and reason with stupid - it just doesn’t work.

Data on the PT Board shows a 1.7% (and rising) mortality rate.
Almost as stupid as the OP. This is a morbidity rate (wrong, BTW) of those who show enough symptoms to get tested. The actual number for this meaningless statistic is between 1 and 1.4%. The actual percentage for all who get COVID-19 will end up far below 1.0%, probably between 0.01% (the Oxford study) and 0.4%.
