Gas in Washington is more expensive but you pump it yourself. Eta...same in California.

I live in Maryland and travel to NJ all the time. Driving up there tomorrow. I will tell you it is pretty nice having someone pump your gas, especially when it is this cold.
My daughter went to University of Maryland ( no pics) and there are a lot of kids from NJ that go to school there. These kids had no idea how to pump gas or how to pay for it when they first got to College Park.

Was a guy in my unit in the military that was from Oregon. We took a handful of vehicles to fuel up and when he was gone for 45 min I got sent to look for him. He was still at the pump. In his car. Waiting.
I learned that day just how odd Oregonians are.

This is the funniest thing to me. I need a live feed from the gas stations today. Is it sheer pandemonium? Are there lessons they can take beforehand, or are they just suppksed to wing it?

Days like today with these cold temps I wouldn't mind paying extra for full service.
There is one place near me that offers it but you have to have an account with them or cash they don't accept cards. But it's nice cause the guy will pump the gas and bring your account ticket to sign to your window

What is funny is people from OR would say people in the south stuck in the 50s or 60s.. But they really are stuck in that era if you think about having people pump your gas

NJ is next.
Stopped once to get gas in NJ and got out looking around how to pay at pump and guy ran up to tell me he had to do it.
