Well, it wouldn't be a crawfish boil, would it???

But yes, I've used seafood boil seasoning to cook corn, potatoes and sausage just for the hell of it. I'll use the potatoes for making potato salad or diced up in the morning with some diced up sausage in an omelet.

The corn can be used in soups to add some zip to it or a kind of spicy maque choux.

I am a big fan of food from Louisiana but I don't think there's any food item more overrated than boiled crawfish, especially if it's expensive

Guess OT ballers can afford everything but 4.50 lb crawfish. Their poor 300$ YETIs and GCI rockers just sitting sitting there all lonely

Yeah it’s not always about the price but at some point you realize there are many better options for a big group at half the price.
Crawfish is aight but give me a big fat piece of meat on the grill a salad and lots a great sides and that’s all I need.

Yeah that's a tough call. I've hit that with steak over 10 dollars if it isn't dry aged or special somehow.

Hot Springs Arkansas has had crawfish and gumbo festivals. Wards Crawfish Hole there has been hosting baseball watch parties this weekend and saying they have plenty of crawfish. Would be hard to be there as a Tigers fan.

Boiling crawfish has been a family tradition on Easter Sunday my entire life. Not going to let a few hundred dollars change that.

Crawfish isn't a must have for me. It's a decent deal once a spring if it's the right group and setting. I give zero fricks about passing on them at these prices.

Out of curiosity I have been living in Florida for 20 years so would not know but what would be a fair price for the crawfish?

Well in these parts it's a big flippin' deal man, believe me. In fact from all of South Louisiana through South Mississippi and Mobile, it's a big deal. But especially South Louisiana.

I know that I live in LC. My family is having one right now. On top of that, my father has been a commercial fisherman my entire life. I don’t know why, but I just can’t stand eating crawfish or the smell of it. Goes for most seafood to me.

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been told “but you live in S Louisiana! How can you not eat seafood??!”

I’m not poor and it’s too damn high. $175-$200 per sack of crawfish is robbery.

You can still do a boil, we do it all the time with crabs and shrimp or one or the other. I will say the thing about crawfish is it’s more social because it takes longer. Shrimp, people are done in 20 mins. Crabs, well most don’t want to put in the effort to pick them frankly.

I do shrimp and crabs quite often in Florida. I’ll do all three too, like you said it just depends on what’s available. But there’s no reason to pay a ton of crawfish for sure when you can do a boil with other stuff for cheaper.

It is up here in North Alabama if you search it out. But not common

Crawfish boils are big in Sweden. We had a Swedish dude come through Rush one year. He was majoring in agriculture to learn how to cultivate crawfish. He didn't pledge anywhere and frankly didn't need to. I saw him out at a bar one night with three or four girls hanging on to him.
