A Hopkinton, Massachusetts, man was charged with attempted murder after he allegedly held a man who walks with crutches under water during an altercation over the use of a residents-only lake Wednesday, police said.

Steven Dana, 70, was charged with an attempt to murder, two counts of strangulation/suffocation, and assault and battery on a disabled person.

Prosecutors allege Dana started a fight with a 21-year-old man at Sandy Beach on Lakeshore Drive just before 7 p.m. after he confronted the victim about his use of Lake Maspenock.

That's good sound quality on a baw that far from the phone. He sounds closer to the mic than the kid right next to the phone.

What does he walk with above water? Or are his crutches dual purpose?

Going to the boat launch to watch the fights is one of America’s greatest pastimes.

It’s like the person who posted the tweet didn’t even watch the video. They were legit trespassing.

Biggest bunch of pussy friends I’ve ever seen. That ole man would’ve been napping with the fishes if he tried drowning me or a buddy

What were they doing to draw the old man's attention? Or was it that they just happened to be there when his Sundowners set in? Was it even his land?

So many questions, such shitty reporting to not answer them.

He said something about being tired of the noise from the skis I think. Assume he heard it from his house

I wonder if the boomer ever used the registration info to find out where the kid lived.

I use to enjoy the open day of shrimp season at the Fort Pike boat launch.

The commercial shrimpers would pull in front of the rec fishermen at the launch line. Fights galore.

I could have sold tickets.

- The boomer sounds very...reasonable(?) at the outset if there isn't much else in terms of context. He's repeatedly just saying time to go, I'll call the cops, no threats, etc.

- Obviously he just sort of loses it (not-dramatically) before going after the kid

- Not sure on the attempted murder charge. Yeah, it's dicey/scary, but obviously the kid was fine immediately after. Hard to imagine that guy was going to drown him, but how do you know?

My takeaway is if you've got a temper you've just go to get out of those situations and never up the ante. I'm guessing that guy just saw red and lost control for a moment, and now he might pay a very high price.

He probably lives right next to it. There is a boat launch but it’s only for residents.

They obviously used the public boat launch and settled here to do some fishing or what have you.

Trespassing or not, the homeowner had no right to go down there and attack the trespasser unless he was actually harming someone. Just call the cops and let them handle it. What a dumbass - both of them

It wasn’t just for a moment is the problem. He weighs 2.5-3 times what that little kid does and he’s on top of him, hands around his neck deliberately holding him under the water until he has to be pulled off.

Just because he realistically couldn’t complete it since others were there doesn’t mean he didn’t show intent

The kid is either unwilling or incapable of fighting back too since he just lets him walk away, and doesn’t really put up a fight after the slap/punch
