It’s not hard at all to understand. It’s a matter of convenience in a lot of cases - like the Charlie Sheen quote about paying them to go away. In some other cases, it’s a guy who wants to do kinky things that most girls won’t do - or they don’t want their wife and mother of their children to do.
Obviously plenty of desperate guys seek prostitutes, but there are a lot of guys richer, better looking, and more charismatic than any of us who have used them as well.

Just the thought of catching an STD would be enough for me to say no. I know guys with good looking wife’s/ girlfriends that messed with nasty prostitutes and lost everything. I guess it’s the thrill, I’ m happy married but even I wasn’t I couldn’t get with a prostitute

With all due respect, that’s a terrible analogy .
I say this as a guy who’s never been with a prostitute - but pooping is a need, imo sex is more of a ‘want’… if you didnt poop every so often , you’d blow up to the size of a house and explode… with sex, if you dont get laid for a while, you could get blue balls and/or become an enraged person… which leads to my second point- you can theoretically take care of the sex ‘need’ by yourself.. whereas, in my experience- pooping only requires one person .. maybe your pooping experiences are different ?

Elderly people pay someone to wipe their arse for them. When you are not able to do something you pay for that service. Cannot build a home? Pay someone. Cannot sew? Buy clothes off the rack. Cannot get laid? Go buy someone who will give it up.

Is prostitution prevalent in Baton Rouge? Seems the only times you hear about it is every so often the police raid a couple of Asian massage parlors. Because “sex” is just part of the intimacy between a man and a woman. To those who don’t understand that, this will always seem like a simple transactional issue.
I love sex. I’m 63 and I’m still averaging about five per week, and that’s way down from 10 years ago. But I’m not very interested in sex with a woman who doesn’t also want it - and not for financial reasons. I guess if that was my only choice I’d go for it, but I’m thankful it’s not.

I don't know that much about the industry but you have to assume that OnlyFans and other websites like it have killed traditional prostitution.
Maybe the most disgusting drug addicts are still trapped in that cycle but any normal looking girl or woman can make better bank setting up an OnlyFans account.
Option A: For $100 you risk getting beaten, robbed, arrested or contracting an STD and the best case scenario is some disgusting older dude who can't get laid is flopping around on top of you.
Option B: For $200 you set up a webcam in the privacy and safety of your living room and have a chatroom full of simps paypal you money to show your feet.
Gee, that's a tough choice even for someone with the average hooker's IQ.
I don't know. Maybe there's still a market for the high end escorts who cater to the Elliot Spitzer and Jeffrey Epstein crowd. And like I mentioned before, there's probably still some repulsive bottom feeders who have no other option at the other end of the spectrum. But the middle class hooker has to be going extinct, right?
