I just dont see what is the point of them with so many other ways to get books. And there is way too many of them now. It is such a waste of money that could be used on other things

I think so.

That being said, they probably just started construction on 1000 new ones.

i mean, local, state, and federal government is burning your tax dollars anyhow. Might as well have a pretty air conditioned building with books in it to drive by from time to time.

All the other ways involve paying for them. The library lets you read them for free (with tax $). I would prefer not to purchase every book I want to read.

Of all the things governments waste money on I’ll never complain about them wasting it on libraries.

We go to our local library all the time

They have events, my daughter likes checking out books, etc

Out of all the things the government wastes money on, a library seems like something far down the list of things to complain aobut

No. I pay $15 a year for access to thousands of books. Now, remembering to take them back when they're due is a pain in the arse, but they also have tons available to download to a Kindle.

Back when the wife and I first got married and were pinching pennies, we checked out movies from the library instead of renting from Blockbuster.

Yep

Look at the size of these places!!!

They’re oftentimes huge and for what? To hold books that can easily be digitized.

They are a huge waste of taxpayer funds

I love my neighborhood library. There are always people there and there is always something going on. It doesn't hurt that I'm less than two blocks away and the building was donated to the city by the Latter family. It is a lovely old mansion on St Charles Avenue.

No. There are many great resources besides just books. We go to story time, art classes, and many other activities there. Great place for people who don’t have printers or home computers.

If more people and kids picked up books and put their phones down, the world would be a better place!

We vote on the library funding where I live, so the majority apparently disagrees that it's a waste.
