Nothing different from some billion dollar business asking for donations to save them during all of this. Catholic Church is the biggest landholder in the world. They idea that they are really out of money is ridiculous. They are taking advantage of this situation to keep their real money safe. Another example of the Rich getting richer.

NO!! Pay the players! You pay the players, the antitrust law suites go away, then we'll start getting our new NCAA football games again. The Church never anything to do with it.

An attempt to not pay all the kids they molested? Or maybe it’s because they had to pay so many of them

Lawsuit protection. They again get the screw over the kids they diddled.

Excellent question, Baw. I would say since the churches are empty, they are fricking themselves and each other. All the little boys are probably safe, just due to logistics.

Going to be a huge fight as to whether they’ll be allowed to discharge any sexual abuse judgments. Being as they covered up known sexual abuse for decades and transferred known abusive priests from parish to parish allowing them to continue to abuse innocent kids. Among other stuff.

YES and they should be taxed accordingly.

They're a bunch of soul soliciting kid frickers.

Sickening. The Catholic Church has plenty of money and is sitting on a fortune of art.

Instead they want to screw over the people they already screwed (why they are getting sued) and I assume other creditors/contractors.

Sickening.

I'm curious if the people downvoting these types of replies are doing so because they
A) Don't like us talking about all the kids the church has molested OR
B) Don't believe the countless allegations of how the church molested kids

Because they have absolutely molested at least several kids

10 per mass is only to cover their arse, they are letting in more than 10. Just can’t publicize it.

Wait, how much does it cost to reserve a mass in NOLA? About tree fiddy?

Each diocese is set up as its own entity. The Vatican sitting on BILLIONS doesn't have to pay a dime to support any of the diocese.

How fricked up were their finances that a few weeks of people not dropping a five in a basket has ruined them.

A lot of archdiocese schools have been struggling big time the past few years because theIr enrollments have plummeted due to a rise in the number of advanced studies public schools thats given parents decent options that don’t cost almost $6000 per kid for elementary school. And not as many people go to church anymore. The virus shutting down churches and their weekly collections was probably just a final straw.

And Jeff Bezos does the same thing (avoids liability ) with Amazon and their deadly delivery trucks.

The level of hypocrisy in this thread is higher than the monetary judgements against the arch diocese
