Filing Chapter 11 Bankruptcy

LINK

quote:

Despite filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, which could occur as early as Friday, the archdiocese is expected to continue ministering to its parishioners and operate in relatively normal fashion. As in other recent diocesan bankruptcies, churches will still hold Mass and schools and various ministries will likely continue to teach students and perform their duties to the community whenever restrictions associated with the pandemic are lifted.

quote:

In filing for bankruptcy protection, Aymond will temporarily halt the demands of creditors as well as the progress of lawsuits seeking compensation for dozens of plaintiffs who claim they were molested by priests, including clergymen who have kept receiving church financial support.

The Vatican can't help? It's literally a giant walled fortresses sitting on top of unimaginable wealth and gold.

Here's a livestream from the Vatican:

Right. How fricked up were their finances that a few weeks of people not dropping a five in a basket has ruined them.

Looks like they’ll have to do their diddling on bourbon street like the rest of us.

Considering that's the primary factor for the bankruptcy, yes.

10 per mass is only to cover their arse, they are letting in more than 10. Just can’t publicize it.

Forgive me for my ignorance but how are they bankrupt when the catholic church as a whole, whom runs the archdiocese has millions?

Probably don't have much in the way of liquidity. Might own things like Ozanam Inn that sit on prime land and can be turned into fancy condos for hipster douchebags.
