I don’t have an issue with removing Confederate statues. Despite what people say, it does not change history. I do have an issue with the means to that end. Mob rule and rioting is wrong. Should have brought it to a vote. There’s a right way to do things.

Politicians because they want to appease and stay in power. Media, athletes, celebs, and white liberals because they can hold the big, flashing signs of virtues.

You talking about this?

Columbus Comes Down In Chicago

quote:

Workers arrived under cover of darkness early Friday to remove a Christopher Columbus statue from Chicago’s Grant Park – a week after rioters clashed with city police as they attempted to tear the statue down.

quote:

Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot made the decision to remove the statue -- as well as another Columbus one in Little Italy earlier Thursday, according to FOX 32 in Chicago.

quote:

The decision to remove the statue is a reversal for Lightfoot who has said in the past that taking down Columbus monuments erases history, the Tribune reported.

Why would there be statues to racists and traitors?

Nobody thinks it literally changes history. But you do realize it’s possible to acknowledge and even celebrate history and historical figures while also recognizing and acknowledging their faults, right? And it doesn’t mean that all parts of that person of time period are celebrated. Having a statue up of someone important to an area doesn’t condone slavery, for example.

Because the fact of matter is they lead an armed rebellion against the US. It was the worst period in American history. There was a point in our history when diplomacy failed. Brothers killed brothers. Fathers and sons waged war against each other. I would rather not pay homage to that.

Then don’t. Rally your other comrades and vote to have them removed.

History doesn't change no matter what you do. History IS! The Revisionists are creating racial discourse in this country trying to recreate history as something it wasn't.

They're trying to pass a defense bill in the Senate which includes a provision to remove Confederate names from military bases and Trump is threatening to veto the bill.

Yes, because the statues are racist and unnecessary. If the protestors take them down it saves the tax payers from having to pay for the removal

Cool. Let's take down Washington, Lincoln, MLK, and every war memorial. Hell, let's get of museums and art galleries as well. That also doesn't charge history either.
