Well, I'm not making that argument, so thanks, I guess?
Hence why I said "typically". You're on the same side of the discussion as those who typically make that argument, and you immediately got a vote of approval from Mo Jeaux on your take.

Yeah, not really, but thanks for opining, sweetie.

I don't mind cities putting things to a vote and letting citizens of the area decide if they should remove a statue or not. That is the way things should be done, but unfortunately it is not done that way
Just so we're clear, I don't believe it took a vote to put up any of the statues that have been taken down, so I see no reason to require it for removal.

Then we have the example of the people living in a gated community defending their homes and being charged for it.
If one watched any of the news during the time this started happening, it's obvious that these protesters weren't there for peaceful demostrations; they were there to cause physical harm to people.
While I don't like the removal of statues and how they're being forced down by the mob actions, I don't lose sleep over it at night.
The above situation is entirely different. Those were homeowners that did nothing wrong and are getting arrested for it. If you can't protect your home from the same mob that pulled down statues, then this isn't the same America that I thought I lived in. I do lose sleep over that.

You've got to forgive Mo Jeaux, he's a one trick pony in these discussions. He's infuriated people try to approach any situation with nuance and logic.
Do “the conservative case for allowing chicks with dicks into restrooms with your wives and daughters” next!
You impotent Conservative, Inc. hucksters can’t conserve shite.

Despite what people say, it does not change history.
No- but if you destroy every symbol of history, what have you accomplished? Anyone who thinks doing this will change mankind and suddenly make everyone love one another is only kidding themselves.
We aren't living in a Disney production.
Besides- the people who do these things are lying about their motives, anyway. They hate America for many more reasons than a period of her history they never experienced.

I do think it's stupid to celebrate people who are simply not worth celebrating.
Agree. I don't think FDR is worthy of celebration either.

I rarely use the vote feature, fwiw.

You’re pathetic.

Just because someone isn’t super hardline right and a “staunch conservative“ on every single issue/Fox News talking point.... doesn’t mean they are a Marxist or someone who doesn’t stand for anything. Probably just someone who is a little more moderate and thinks through the issues instead of immediately taking the party line on every single thing.

I wasn't talking about up votes, I was talking about you quoting his take and saying "bingo."
If that's not a vote of approval, I apologize.

Nah.
See, this is the benefit of using your brain. It's much better than being told what you should/shouldn't support based on political parties.

Please do tell us about your moderation and nuance. I’m all ears.
I always enjoy the principled conservative take.

It's it true or false that, by and large, statues being removed without a vote were erected without a vote?

But you do realize it’s possible to acknowledge and even celebrate history and historical figures while also recognizing and acknowledging their faults, right?

Sophistry. It’s unbecoming, and an attribute of women and effete men.

You think because I’m okay with the removal, and I mean legal removal, of very specific statues that I’m immediately affiliated with a certain group. That is false. All you’re doing is hurling insults and looking down your nose. Either you’re here fishing for an argument, or you’re hardcore set in your principles and won’t allow for any deviation.
