I think one thing that's even more infuriating is that they aren't being treated criminals for destroying property.
If I went to central park and deliberately started destroying areas of the park, I'd be arrested especially since I'm white.
Then we have the example of the people living in a gated community defending their homes and being charged for it.
If one watched any of the news during the time this started happening, it's obvious that these protesters weren't there for peaceful demostrations; they were there to cause physical harm to people.
They do this with impunity. That should really piss people off.
And why not leave the existing statues/monuments in place and (in addition, not in place of) erect some celebrating civil rights leaders?

I just want to know how do all these people have the time or mental capacity to care about removal of statues or protesting for that matter. Most people work for a living, have families to take care of, and don't give a shite about statues. Removing them or blaming police won't fix a damn thing. People in the inner cities want to fix their problems it starts from within oneself, families, and communities, not a statue or police. Removing statues won't fix a damn thing. This victim mentality is corrosive.

The people burning and looting in St. Louis had charges dismissed while the couple defending private property were charged with felonies.

This is my thinking as well. My degree is in history with a strong concentration in the Civil War, and as much as I respect a lot of the people the statues depict, I understand how some could be offended at how prominently they are displayed. They don’t bother me, personally, but if enough people want them removed, let’s vote on it and get them the frick out of here.

I support people's right to peacefully protest. That means if I agree with what they are protesting or if I disagree.
I don't mind cities putting things to a vote and letting citizens of the area decide if they should remove a statue or not. That is the way things should be done, but unfortunately it is not done that way.
While I'm not passionate enough about it to protest over, I do think it's stupid to celebrate people who are simply not worth celebrating.
