Taking a pain pill and drinking isn’t the smartest, but benzos and drinking is a No Go.

Are y’all talking being really drunk and big doses of benzos or a few drinks and taking 0.5mg of Xanax gonna kill you? I use to drink a 1/5 a night of whiskey and I’d take a low dose Xanax every night for years to prevent hangovers.

I don’t recommend it just curious on people saying this. I haven’t had a Xanax in 10 years and seldom drink. By no means do I recommend drinking and benzos, just asking for clarification

I take them with or without alcohol when flying. Difference is only if I can remember flying at all or not.

For better or worse I’ve had more than my fair share of experiences of mixing pain pills and alcohol. I took a Xanax one night, not knowing anything about them and I certainly didn’t know that alcohol and them don’t mix well together. I woke up the next morning in our backyard on our trampoline.
It might sound funny, but I was blackout that night and thankfully nothing more serious happened. I don’t know why benzos and drinking affect the brain differently, but they definitely do.

Who says you can't drink on them? I don't recommend it but I also don't remember a lot when I do

I have never done this after having a Xanax script since 2004, but I understand it's a thing. I have HEARD it is bad to combine them with alcohol.

Never taken any.

^^ Don't do it. Yes, they're addicting and can really mess up some folks. Watch the documentary on Netflix, something like, "Take Your Meds: Xanax."

Maybe from Dr. Drew? I have to drink a lot to fly, and don't do benzos or other scrips, because I am worried about the flight diverting to Des Moines, with me being put in cuffs with no pants on, and having no idea how it happened.

My sister did.

Then she did 6 months in the Betty Ford Clinic.

It used to be so easy to get bars that’s what we took instead of drinking. When I started getting into drinking I stopped.

Some black out nights and trying to fight friends while on bars and alcohol is just not the road I wanted to go down.

And also people were on pills and they seemed safe. It was the street pills they warned you about which I guess back then was mainly x.

The ones that didn’t stop the pills either did rehab or died.

All I know is it’s a really bad idea to drink and take Ambien. It can frick your world up.

It’s a weird drug. I took it for sleep on my first deployment, as prescribed by the flight surgeon. There were a few days where I was in the cockpit before flying a mission and I just came to. Couldn’t remember if I’d grabbed lunch or how I got to the aircraft. I was definitely not drinking at that point in time.

I used restoril for sleep on future deployments. Ambien just always left me in a cognitive fog the next day. Can’t imagine the decision making with alcohol in the mix.

I’m not sure it’s a benzo though.

Dude I took them for years. Stay away. You will have to get medical detox to get off them.

This is why I apply vodka. I don't need Belgian security forces having a conversation with me when I'm trying to make a transfer.

The side effects of restoril don't look awesome. Death, etc. It is a benzo.

1mg of Xanax and 3 beers before a flight makes me a happy boy.

I didn’t know that.

Restoril was waaaayy more conducive to getting sleep and being effective at flying airplanes in a deployed environment in my experience than ambien was.

My only dealings with the Belgians was in Erbil. Belgian 130 crew wearing some sweet safari looking uniforms that we were jealous we couldn’t wear in the 110° weather.

Funny you say this.... that happened to me in 2022. Flight landed in Des Moines. I wake up like I am in the twilight zone. I wondered if it was the Xanax putting me on the wrong flight. Turns out it was due to storms in Minneapolis. It was an Fed up 2 minutes to figure out what happened. I was lost.

I had a shitty doctor Rx Xanax for me when he couldn’t diagnose me (to his credit he referred me to someone who did, w cancer). When I finally got an oncologist, she was pissed that anyone would do that. Never took anything after that first appointment. Something about her reaction helped me just deal sans pills.
