You have no idea what Josh preaches. We have been members of Lakepointe for 20 years. Steve Stroope started it and Josh took over a few years ago. Both solid Bible teaching pastors. You should attend or watch his full services before saying something inaccurate.

Is he the dude in the 20 million dollar house who did not open his church for those in need during a natural disaster?
If so, that is not living what Jesus preached so just a false prophet
If not, no opinion to render at this time

Nope, you’re thinking of Joel Osteen. Joel is a true PoS.

That’s Joel Olsteen. Lakewood Church.
And I don’t judge him for not opening his house but it was that they didn’t open up the church that had ample shelter.
They did open it the next day I believe.

All pastors are dbags and charlatans. Just read the book yourself

I was in Protestant/Charismatic/Pentecostal/Megachurches for 20+ years. Also spent five years in a pseudo-Calvinist church. It wasn’t called Presbyterian but that’s basically what it was. Deacon, usher, greeting team leader, Sunday School teacher, etc. I’ve sat under and heard most all of them, from Jesse Duplantis to John Piper (vastly different theologies and doctrines obviously). Everything is performative and literally designed to elicit emotional decisions and commitment. Cool, good-looking pastors in their jeans and t-shirts. I can’t with these people anymore.
Example: For those in Alabama, I’ve been to Church of the Highlands dozens of times. My oldest daughter graduated from their “ministry” school in 2012. They recruited her out of a track scholarship at UAB. She loved Jesus and was easily swayed by their pitch when she started attending church there. I might never forgive them for that, though I know I should.
I converted to the Catholic Church in 2023. There’s nothing you can explain to me that will change my mind. I’ve heard it all. I’ve studied it. I’ve TAUGHT it.

These threads always turn into a contest of who can google and post the most bible verses.

He’s no doubt charismatic, and maybe he is a “genuine dude,” but the depth of his theological intelligence is questionable.

I’ve watched his podcast a few times, and his teaching is sound. Even where I disagree, like his position on once saved, always saved, he grounds his view in scripture, so I don’t have an issue with it. People can read the same passage and come away with slightly different interpretations. I haven’t heard him teach anything heretical, and I appreciate his take on Christians in politics.
I’ve never seen him preach, but I’d expect it to be similar. As for his knowledge, it’s fine if a guy isn’t especially sharp off the cuff. He clearly prepares for his podcast. Some people are extremely knowledgeable but aren’t good at showing it without preparation.
That said, I don’t know the man personally, so I can’t speak to whether his personal life matches his teaching.

All of these people are full of themselves. They are like politicians. They might have started it out with good intentions, but they will eventually cave in. Too much temptation.

i don't know his view or your view, but i had a small (like really small) southern baptist church preacher explain it like this.
"Jesus ain't gettin' back up on that cross, brother."

This one is pretty powerful. I don’t know the guy that well, but I am getting tired of “Christians” tearing down other Christians especially those doing what God has instructed them to do in spreading the gospel. It reeks of jealousy and exposes one’s true heart. Unless he is a charlatan that is leading others astray by teaching unbiblically, but the little I’ve seen from him doesn’t give me that impression.

I've listened to several of his Live Free podcasts. Those are the most beneficial to me. He definitely is a man of God and obviously God is using him to spread the gospel.

Google doesn't get TD very well. I can look for specific posts that a specific poster, or that personally posted, about very specific people, places, events or products and it's unable to return results.
Try looking up Turning Point USA, Charlie Kirk's organization. I first started mentioning TPUSA back 10 years ago and really learned about him from a teenager sitting next to me on a flight from Dallas to Des Moines, IA who had just returned from a TPUSA event and was excited to be starting up a chapter. I was unfamiliar and looked it up. After then, I knew more about him and Google, because I had searched his name, would add videos of him to feeds if things that I look up. So, I was very well aware of him.
Here's a pic I took of Charlie Kirk from my seat in March 2025 as he was a featured speaker at a business event I attended.

Mega church pastors are some of the slimiest and most dishonest people out there. They aren’t religious leaders, they’re cult leaders grifting off gullible idiots for financial gain.

quote:He became a character on South Park without even having to mention his, and everyone still knew who it was in reference to. You are objectively wrong here.
Kirk really was not well known before his death.

How has he trashed Billy Graham? I’ve only seen a couple of clips of howerton so was not aware he trashed Graham.
