Kirk really was not well known before his death. He was barely even discussed on tigerdroppings.

Just because it wasn't discussed on TD doesn't mean Kirk was not well known.

Look at his videos from 5-10 years ago - the audience is packed.

Your ignorance of him does not mean others were.

Like most "preachers" he can't help himself with constantly trying to tear down the one, true, Catholic, and apostolic Church. I've never been to a mass where other denominations were mentioned.

My family and started attending about 6 weeks ago and really enjoy him.
You should try going to a church where the focus is on God and not an individual speaker.

If you get to page 9 of the google results, there is one mention of Kirk before his death. It's a comment from Imjustafatkid on 7/30/2025 (about 40 days before Kirk died) claiming that "Charlie Kirk does an incredible job defending conservative ideals and beliefs." That comment got 1 upvote and 12 downvotes. That's literally the only time I can find that Charlie Kirk was mentioned on Tigerdroppings before he died.

That's it, it's confirmed.

Good work man.

Two of the last 3 weeks has been a different speaker, not sure how this church is focused on "an individual speaker."

I like listening to Howerton. He breaks down the Bible pretty well and doesn’t sugar coat things so he doesn’t offend people

Video title says it all.

“Former members”

No thanks. There’s nothing worse than the jilted former members of a church who leave and suddenly think they are the second coming of Christ.

I'm pretty suspect of high profile pastors on the political right* who:

- Have very heavy social media presence

- Do the multicampus thing

- Engage on politics/culture as much as explicit matters of faith.

That doesn't mean I can't get over it, but I start with doubt, basically. That said, of people like him, Howerton seems to be pretty genuine. I still think anyone doing what he does is probably putting himself in a difficult spot in terms of pastoring, though.

*For clarity, every pastor on the political left is suspect.

If you watch his Live Free podcast is actually a very in depth Bible study among other things like discussing current events

There are too many pastors who are afraid to speak political beliefs

Pastors should not be speaking political beliefs as in promoting one specific party or candidate. Otherwise, they should lose their tax exempt status.

Example:

This is OK: "Abortion is wrong. It is against the will of God. See Bible verse XYZ."

This is not: "Democrats support abortion therefore they are evil and you should not vote for any Democrat."

So why isn't it called "Lakepointe Bible Study"? Why is it called "Church"?

That's not a church. That's a TED talk.

that's a perfect example of his style and many others.

i was telling my wife the other day that we should be going to a church to get yelled at. i should walk out of church with a sense of shame. i had a preacher like that growing up when i went to a southern baptist church. never felt that way leaving though because i was just a dumb kid that didn't know anything and had other thoughts on my mind like playing video games and what not.

now that i'm an adult, the thing to do these days is to go to these "feel good"/non-denominational churches. looking back, my old baptist church style of preaching is phasing out. or maybe i'm just disconnected from my surrounding communities to know where they are.

my wife was definitely not down with going to an old school church like i had presented.

Probably the least convincing of the common atheistic arguments.

It's like if I had a Ford truck, and I reject the notion that Toyota, Honda, or Chevy built it.

But my neighbor comes along and says he doesn't believe any of them built it.

A lot of his social media clips are good and have caught and had enjoyed those for a while.

He was recently on Shawn Ryan and to be honest I didn’t think he came off as knowledgeable at all. This makes me think there’s a lot of selective editing to build out his image as some really smart and switched on guy. Too much Bro Talk and “like” in his dialect which is distracting.

Not a bad dude just not as knowledgeable as i would like to see as far as time investment.
