This is just me. It's how I pray.

And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites. For they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men. Truly I tell you, they already have their full reward. But when you pray, go into your inner room, shut your door, and pray to your Father, who is unseen. And your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. And when you pray, do not babble on like pagans, for they think that by their many words they will be heard.…

It's pretty simple.

I agree with what you said and probably could have worded it better. Sadly, in today's world the following is right leaning and conservative. Just as believing in traditional marriage between a man and a woman is conservative.
quote:

This is OK: "Abortion is wrong. It is against the will of God. See Bible verse XYZ."

I've seen pastors speak the following online but never witnessed it at Lakepointe.
quote:

This is not: "Democrats support abortion therefore they are evil and you should not vote for any Democrat."

The big split right now is covenant theology vs dispensationalism. People are leaving dispensationalism in droves.

but almost every pastor is a nutjob,

Opinion passed off as fact to make the presenter feel better about himself and superior so not to have to think through arguments.

Fundamentally flawed and collapses upon itself when you dissect it. Not sustainable.

Everybody is athestic toward Greek gods or Egyptian gods or Iroquois gods or whatever. Some of us just go one god further.

Ahhhh the old Richard Dawkins, new Atheism go to of yesteryear. Haven't heard it in a while, but allow me to rerort.

Imagine a courtroom. The prosecutor stands up and says the accused is guilty. In a city of 500,000 people, the accused is the guilty one, not the other 499,999 people that were rejected as the one. Why? Because the evidence points to only one person. Same principle applies to God. There are many gods out there, but the evidence only points to One.

I'm pretty apathetic towards Charlie Kirk. Like I had barely heard of Charlie Kirk before he was killed, and I assume the same is true of most people. I think it's kind of strange how people started acting like Kirk was the most important person in US history as soon as he got killed.

You have a lot of internalized anger and misplaced frustration. Why is that?

Bro was literally satirized by the South Park people before his death and he wore it like a badge of honor. But, yes, no one knew him before he died.

Josh Bio - He is a third-generation pastor. His father, Rick Howerton, and his grandfather both served in ministry.

Is that supposed to be a positive for him?

Just curious why you picked that the highlight about the guy?

FWIW this is the first I have ever heard of this guy and have no opinion whatsoever.

How does being on a show that hasn’t been relevant in 30 years prove his relevance

God doing work. Anyone who knows scripture and has truth (Christ) living inside them can identify a false prophet such as this.

And a lot of simpleton evangelicals rushed at the opportunity to paint him as a martyr, saying he was killed because he was a believer. Zero proof of that, and if you actually listened to what he went on about when he wasn't tweeting "Jesus is the way" just to earn church cred, there are plenty of other reasons people wouldn't like him.

ETA I believe Kirk was also pretty outapoken about Israel and the Epstein files, so there's that as well.

I don’t know how Kirk getting mocked on South Park would prove Kirk’s relevance. Like I don’t think most people even realize that South Park is still on the air.

FWIW, it’s been more like 15 years since South Park was relevant, not 30 years. I’m not even sure if the show existed 30 years ago. But your general point that South Park is not relevant today stands.
