Getting past the first month can be a but if a trick but then it is smooth sailing. I notice a difference when I do it. Usually 2-4 months, sometimes up to 6. Drinking Hop water helps alot when in social situations.

Damn dude. I have had a stint in detox due to my penchant for prescription drugs when I was very young. The people who came into that detox facility in the worst shape were the drinkers. And even they were up and at 'em after 3 or 4 days...

I have been really successful in quitting drinking. You could say that I am an expert, because I have done it thousands of times.

If you get the shakes in the morning if you oversleep or don’t have alcohol ready to go? Then you are a prime candidate for seizures or DT’s. Of those folks I believe it’s a 30-40% fatality rate if you reach the point of seizures.

Cold turkey is NOT recommended if that is you. Drinking is actually recommended if you have shakes. Until you can get to a proper facility. Do proper research before fricking things up and ending up in an ER waiting DAYS for placement in a rehab bed.

To be fair the initial rehab was kind of shitty. Worst week of my life. They just gave you enough Valium or whatever to keep you straight.

I went hard with vodka for over a decade. It wasnt a pretty come down.

Doesn't sound like it.

It's OK to get prescribed RX for withdrawal from alcohol.

That's the safe way to do it.

Dec 17, 2016, last drink.

About 1.5-2 bottles of wine per night. Half a bottle of liquor if it’s a liquor night.

One bottle you shouldn’t get sick. Two, maybe. I used to down 1/4-1/2 bottle of bourbon every night. Closer to 1/2 if I’m being honest and I quit cold turkey one day 3 1/2 years ago and didn’t get sick.

6 years.

I feel for anyone starting the process. Don’t care how tough you are, don’t care where you are from, you get to withdrawl stages and you will crumble. It hurts. Kurt Angle explains it well on Rogan.

Quit drinking and try to only drink 1 or 2 glasses of wine? Uh thats would not be quiting. Not even close.
Thats like me trying to quit taking benzos/Xanax and decide i can take a low dose Valium and say im stopping taking benzos. No your not, but I get the cold turkey part for alcohol and benzos are the only two drugs that can kill you if you cold turkey. Good luck in your journey.
The hardest thing for me when I quit and was sober was it feels foreign to me or it feels weird being completely sober. It so strange at times.
I guess being an addict and depending on a substance for a long period and then suddenly you remove that from you!! Goodluck and god speed

I assume you mean on the way home from work?? How the hell could you work after drinking that much and not get fired.

Not him, but he probably really meant to work. It doesn’t get to that point overnight, rather it gets there after several years of heavy drinking.

Imagine having a steady input of alcohol in your system all day, then night comes and you finally pass out. That’s a few hours of zero alcohol input, and your BAC begins to drop as you sleep. You wake up nauseous, anxious, and shaking and the only thing that will stop that is more alcohol. Take down a few beers or shots in the morning, and you start feeling “normal” again. Over time, the quantity needed to feel normal increases, and before you know it, it’s 6 beers or shots before work. In any case, you’re now ready to start the day and the hellacious cycle continues.

Thats dependency and tolerance, bro.

I did...when I was first diagnosed with Afib, back when I was about 50.

It was no problem as I didn't drink daily. But I did long for a beer sometimes at the end of the day.

But then I figured out that all the docs say "you have Afib, you can't drink" for everyone, even super healthy people like me. Now I drink on weekends.
