I don’t think I care to completely stop drinking but I definitely need to cut back. So much of what I do feels better with a cold beer. Tailgating, yard work, BBQing, fishing, etc. But I need to cut back on the weeknight nightcaps.

How about you degenerates learn some moderation.
You can certainly Enjoy beer or wine or whiskey without getting fat lazy and hungover
It’s called having 1-2 vs 10.
Geees

Exact same story here..it is amazing how offended some people get when you say you don't drink....they say "never?"..I say "nope". They make a goofy face and say.."that's OK, good for you"...it's funny that it seems so confusing and disturbing.

Just took a break this year. Benefits were amazing. I highly recommend trying a 3 or 6 month break if you are considering it.

quit cold turkey for health reasons. Well, not just cold turkey but all kinds of processed sandwich meat. I haven't tried quitting alcohol though. I really like it.
Only vegans eat turkey that isn't fried

Anyone here decide to cut alcohol from your life for health reasons?
Didn't decide, but was told to. Went about 7 years without drinking. Heart Failure is a bitch. My EF was down to 10-15%. EF now is at 20%. I started back drinking a little over 2 years ago. More so in the last year to the point that I cope a very good buzz about every two days or so.

I’m 35 and have esophageal motility disorder from horrible reflux I had from the age of 15-25. My college years the amount of drinking, late night eating, and crappy diet really caused the most damage. My doctor told me I’m now a one drink a week guy, but I’ve gone a few weeks without drinking. I’ve had my one regular sized bourbon during the LSU games, but no crazy foods with it.

Never enjoyed drinking. Might drink 1 beer a year. Also haven't drank yet this year.
My issue are uppers. Simply because they enhance things I enjoy like reading, gaming and wood working.

I did quite the opposite.
I changed my food intake so I could enjoy beer without getting fat. Cut out carbs, way lower on the portions, etc.
Dropped 30 lbs and I drink every day and I feel much better.

I know a tall woman, 6 foot, who drank a bottle of wine every night. She said it was only four glasses. Anyways, she complained about all of the weight she was gaining. She stopped all alcohol cold turkey and has lost a lot of weight without changing her diet or the amount she exercises.

I went through a time period after my divorce were I was drinking a ton. I would get home from work and couldn't take the empty house so I would go sit at a bar or restaurant for dinner and drink and eat. The problem is once I get so many drinks in there is no stopping me and the next thing I knew it was 2am on a Tuesday and I was ubering home.
I grew up playing sports and have always been very active. I love to play golf, hunt, and fish which all of those things usually involve drinking. I rededicated myself to fitness and have even signed up for Tough Mudders and Savage races. Things that you must train for. It gave me something else to dedicate my time to.
When I play golf now I usually walk so it deters me from having a cooler full of beer in the cart.

Did it 6 years ago. Best decision of my life. You will feel much better! It will continue to improve for 6-12 months. Good luck and Godspeed!
Well about a month ago I took the plunge. This Sunday it will have been 5 weeks since my last drink.
So far my health has improved. Lost 10 lbs without any dietary changes or serious increases in excersice. Feel much better when waking up (this took about 2 weeks). Mental health is noticeably better and I find I'm enjoying the real things on life much more.
The 1st 2 weeks were rough with anxiety but after that it's been easy. I don't have any plans to pick up a drink at this point but not making any pronouncements.
I encourage anyone considering this to take a 30 day challenge. Give yourself a month and see how you feel.

Anyone cut the chord? Did you notice health improvement?
I cut the cord and I stopped waking up in a cage with blood on my shirt. Healthier? Probably.

I've never been an alcoholic, so my light intake doesn't negatively affect my health in any meaningful way.
I've gotten to the point that one or two drinks makes me feel like shite the next day. Just not worth it.

I quit beer a few years ago. It was tough. I really enjoy IPAs. But I do still drink red wine and bourbon. Both are very low in carbs.
This. I drink an occasional beer, but probably less than 1/month.
Mostly wine during the week, cocktails on the weekend. Unless I'm traveling for work.
