Stopped drinking many years ago. Friday night partying led to rest of weekend and into Monday hangovers. Not worth a few hours of "fun". I wake up each day without a queasy stomach and a headache.

I know the feeling. Drinking is like a damn religion in Louisiana. People's idea of having a good time is getting drunk. Any kind of physical activity is a no-go for a lot of people i know, it's pretty frustrating.

I wouldn't say I quit entirely, but last November I got a hangover that I felt like I was going to die from... it was bad. After that I can count on one hand the amount of times I've had a drink.

I switched to Crown and water instead of coke or Diet Coke about a month go and I love it. As a result, I feel better and I’ve dropped a few pounds.

I quit at the time of my first brain surgery. In addition to my overall and neurological health getting better, my wallet became heavier.

I'm high on life. Sober up guys. Put away the alcohol. It's overrated.

Doing it right now and I have no regrets. Eating better, no alcohol in my life, and I've lost 20 punds in the past 3 months. Plus not being hungover, miserable, lazy, drunk, etc. when you wake up is an extra plus. Glad I made this decision to improve myself. Every single one of my friends mock and make fun of me for doing this. Doesn't bother me since I couldn't care less about what they think. Going out every night til 6 in the morning and being hungover unproductive the next day gets VERY old. Unfortunately, that's almost all of my friends big idea for fun, but not for me.

All I can say is live your life the way you want to, and never ever let anyone else dictate your actions for you. If you seriously want to give up alcohol, then do it. As someone dealing with alcohol problems, it makes you a better person for sure. To all the people trying this or struggling powering through this, I commend you and I know you can do it. Don't give up.

It also helps having friends that don't drink too. They might get made fun of too for not drinking, especially in Louisiana, but it's nice to associate with people going through not drinking which makes it that much easier.

I've been sober for almost 6 months. I totally love this lifestyle. I think the hardest issue is going out and friends saying, can't you drink just one drink? Or question why I'm not drinking. It's like some sort of deal breaker and people can't believe I just don't drink. Or think I'm going to be lame. But then again, I try not to surround myself with those types of people. I'm 34 single mom, I don't really need to be in a bar and in that environment.

I won't lie, months 3-4 was rough. I don't know why. But now that I'm this far in, I don't miss it. I don't miss the hangovers, I don't miss the headaches, I don't miss the stomachaches and I'm 100% totally a different person and mom.

100%. I have two close friends who don't drink and understand and 'get' it. I feel like some people seem to think its some sort of flaw if you don't drink.

I enjoy a buzz, but one drink gives me a headache now. Any more than that and the hangover puts me out of commission the next day. I would take up weed if I could stand the smoke.

I quit about 8 years ago and health was one reason. I was a binge drinker and another reason was that, eventually, the bummer of the hangover was more than the enjoyment of the drunk.

I had to throw that in there, I'm old, but I'll never forget when I was 18, big college stud home from LSU, had had a few encounters in hs, and as a freshman at LSU, got hooked up with a 32 year old single mom from a guy from my summer job, walked out of her apartment the first night it was like, WTF just happened? don't know what it was but I wanted some more, was a great summer
