Same issue.
Tap still works though.

The only place I have ever had a real problem with physical cards being read is Sam's, but I use the app to scan and go now, so it never affects me anymore.

Walmart doesn’t do tap because they want you to use their payment system on their app.

Same here. These businesses are losing money by doing something that seemingly is cheap to put into place.
Once you use tap on your phone you’ll never go back to using the physical card

When the physical card literally doesn’t work, and makes people go to a different gas station or store to use the same card via Tap, yeah these companies are losing a shite ton of money by having faulty equipment in their checkout lane.
Here’s how Walmart works.
“put chip card in”
Doesn’t work
Try it again
Doesn’t work
frick it now swipe it…
Well finally worked
Nobody has time for that shite.

Only place I ever have issues with my card is at Wal-Mart.

I go to the walmart pharmacy and I always have problems with my card.

tap to pay on your phone.
Like Apple Pay? I usually end up having to use this at walmart.

It’s incredibly rare that I have issues with my card not working.
To the point I have real questions about you having issues frequently.

Yes Apple Pay. Walmart doesn’t allow it in their checkout lanes. Some gas stations have tap at the pump, other don’t. The ones that don’t I’d say 50% of the time the readers don’t work and have to try a different pump.
It def conditions the shopper to go to the place that is easiest to pay at. Never had an issue tapping from phone. But brand new chip card, you’d think the machines would always read it…nope.

This happens to me all the time and I have a theory as to why it happens. Walmart also doesn't have tap to pay and the only other option is to download the Walmart app to use Walmart Pay.
That way Walmart avoids having to pay transactions fees and more importantly; collects user data.
I never have this issue anywhere else and it's so annoying that I actively try to avoid going there.

Walmart is shitty - chip readers don’t work like 75% of the time
That seems like an extremely high percentage.

I almost always have issues with chips in at least one of my cards. I've started using tap to pay for everything.

Yep. Especially if it’s Walmart. And count it out like Bono. If you say, “and I can see those fighter planes,” every couple bills, then the thugs will think you’re a crazy ptsd combat vet and leave you alone.

Certain card readers at two different locations of Walfart, i get an error with my Mastercard. My Chase card, however, doesn't have this problem.

Occasionally, yes! If the chip reader slot didn’t work the “3 times” with the strip reader would generally take.
I did have a chip pop loose and fall out of my card and onto the floor. It still worked on a tap basis on the tip of my finger. Card company sent a new one.
