I go thru Walmart checkout…80% of the time the card won’t work and it’s brand new with chip.

Same thing at gas pumps.

Every place needs to at least give the option of tap to pay on your phone. It’s million times easier and you don’t have to worry about the physical card not working,

I still can’t believe a place as big as Walmart or 7/11 doesn’t have tap to pay at check out or pump.

It’s why you should always carry a few hundred bucks in cash on you in these instances where the tech doesn’t work

if the chip reader doesn’t work at these establishments do you really think the phone tap thingy is going to work?

Never had an issue with a physical card once the chips started. The strip would wear out before that.

This happens to me too, and it is mildly annoying. Wal-Mart is the only place where I have these issues with my cards.

I’ve never had an issue with phone tap anywhere. Petsmart, Publix, Aldi, Target, Chevron, Marathon…if your phone picks up the signal it will automatically let you pick the card out of your wallet and use it. Don’t have to ever worry about the physical card not being read.

Yet Walmart doesn’t offer this. The biggest retail store in the US doesn’t have this techology that’s now been around for a long time.

I used to be a person just used physical cards. But then figuring out the Tap to Pay on phone, way easier and you don’t have to worry about cards wearing out or not working.

you missed my point

Walmart is shitty - chip readers don’t work like 75% of the time

The tap to pay won’t work either because it’s Walmart - and they just dont care

They don’t offer tap but you can pay using their app or Walmart pay I think they call it. You scan the QR code on the card reader and you can pay using a saved method on the app. I agree it’s crazy they don’t offer tap, but this is almost the same.

711 does
Walmart, it's by design to force you to use their app.

Walmart while it doesn’t support tap to pay, it does have something called Walmart Pay.

To use Walmart Pay, open the Walmart app in-store, select "Walmart Pay," and scan the QR code displayed on the checkout screen with your phone camera. Ensure a credit, debit, or gift card is linked in your account wallet. This contactless system, which requires a PIN or fingerprint, eliminates paper receipts by providing a digital version.

I might be young, but I'm an old man about this kinda stuff. Cash or card. I'm not interested in using my phone or apps for this foolishness.

I only have this at Walmart and it pisses me off every time that they don’t have tap to pay.

It's because they want you to use Walmart Pay
