Tort reform was supposed to prevent insurance rates from increasing. They sold us a bill of goods with that lie. One thing worse than or more deceptive than trial lawyers are insurance companies and politicians who shill for them.

Two vehicles, two drivers, no violations, accidents or claims, only one vehicle full coverage, premium jumped from $1000/6 mos to $1400/6 mos. Got quote from Progressive for around $700/6 mos , so we switched. Had been with GEICO 2.5 years. Louisiana FYI

State Farm jumped 30% last month. It’s almost $100 per month difference. Clean record with no claims. My agent went into spin mode. Said it was the busiest week of his career (he’s younger) explaining away the jump to his clients.

In Orleans- insurance problem number one. Looks like my premium thru progressive has gone up to $3000/year on a 2019 F150

Yes, pretty much exactly what you have above. When we started with them 8 years ago it was close to $1,000 and we have made 0 claims/0 wrecks/0 tickets.

Have progressive and it shot up. Got Geico quote $600 cheaper in email from agent. Tried to buy online, price was $400 more. Went through checkout process and after inputting card it went up another $250. Just kept progressive because it ended up being about the same.

I just did the same thing. Moved both home and auto from geico to state farm. Car insurance was drastically cheaper and home was marginally cheaper.

Progressive cut mine by 55% over state farm.

I quoted geico and a couple others as well.

Nobody was close to them

Yeah I'm looking at the rates some people are paying and I'm glad ours isn't that much. Our auto is right around 2k per year for a 2017 F150 and a 2012 Accord. I'm sure we get some discounts for bundling it with home.

I have Geico for my cars and golf cart.
I honestly did not notice anything abnormal on increases but thank you for the heads up on this. I just assumed Geico and progressive kept each other in check.

I have Progressive and you are right, they started out low. Give them three years. They will be right up there with Geico.

Yep. This thread reminds me that I need to shop around to see if I can get a lower rate somewhere else.

Our homeowner's has gone up a fair amount in the last few years but nothing like the parishes getting screwed over from Ida.

You have to keep switching, all the companies do that crap thinking you'll just keep paying whatever they ask. Shop around. Have to do it every 2-4 years.

Brand loyalty is a thing of the past, they don't give a crap about keeping customers happy. They just want that money!

Bought a new car earlier this year and premium jumped from $1,200/six months to $1,600.

Switched to Allstate now paying $600/six months.
