All of the "Mardi Gras is trashy" and "NOLA is trashy" trolls can stay out of this... we get your point.

Every year, we always make a big deal out of the second weekend, doing Endymion on Saturday, and then late Sat night going out and staying overnight for the Sunday parades, and then doing Monday Night and Mardi Gras day.

Maybe it's the fact it's so early, maybe it's the years of dealing with stupid people taking up 4 blocks for 10 people, maybe it's the years of people walking up to the front 10 min after the parade starts, drunk, and knocking my kids over, but I'm just not feeling it this year.

I'm seriously contemplating going to some parades this weekend, middle of next week, and next Friday loading the family into the car and going somewhere out of town for a few days.

I have NEVER felt this way before. Anyone else looking for a break this year?

I've been going to a new church and its got me down about Mardi Gras. They say that Mardi Gras isn't even Jesus' real birthday

If you're in Nola with 8 strip clubs shutdown, I can see why. Mobile probably will have more strip clubs open than Nola. Sad.

I’m super motivated, plan on having some drinks and some fun. No girls flashing for beads here in Monroe unfortunately but still should be fun.

I've been this way for the last couple of years. I'm exhausted. However, whenever I've been dragged to an event in New Orleans, Lafayette, or Spanish Town, I have had an absolute blast.

I'm hoping I get to do the Spanish Town pre-parade Second Line again. That was a really fun gig.

My wife is due in two weeks and she is already 2cm dilated so no, I am not motivated for Mardi Gras this year.

We have a convenient setup on the parade route. After 7 straight years have decided to skip this year for a beach week in Mexico. Will probably be back in next year.

I'm just jealous of the days off that I won't get. Couldn't care less about Mardi Gras itself.

So you hate people reserving their spots, and you hate people that encroach on your reserved spot?

We are skipping this year as well we have lots of stuff going on trying to finish fixing up our house. We gave up on the New Orleans scene years ago for small town festivals. We prefer the more laid back scene now that we are older. Been there done that epic N.O. partying. Now we prefer the more laid back scene. As an example we gave up jazz fest for the Thibodeaux fire mans fair

I feel like that every year.

Only Parade I like to go to is Lockport and only because we go a friends house that lives on the route, we cook and drink and let the kids play.

Hit it up twice, they make this big loop so just cross over from one street to the other and do it all over again.
