Lee Circle will never be the same without that General on his pedestal.
Funny, no one said a peep about it before 2015 when Mitch went on his witch hunt.

Nice! I can see how you could get at least 2-3 beers in that way lol

I just don't like it this early... Sneaks up on you..

I haven't been motivated for Mardi Gras in over twenty years.

No.
I don't see the need to show up to any parade more than 5-6 hours ahead of time, at most, and I don't see the need to take any more space than you reasonably need. Marking off half a block or more with ropes and tarps is insane.
Also if you show up late... cool... join the fun... but don't get in front of a kid. That's just obnoxious.
The Krewe of Chad types are ruining this for everyone.

Nope, excited like every other year. One of my favorite times of year in this city. But, I do balls and ride.

My first year riding Thoth, so yeah, I'm kind of pumped.

Not really excited this year about chaperoning in Caesar, Hermes and Thoth...but it's for the kids.

I'm motivated as hell.
I made my first Krewe du Vieux and Krewe Delusion last weekend in 4-5 years. I was going to bail because of the rain. But at 4:00, I said frick it, and drove West through that nasty storm, hoping it wouldn't get cancelled. I'm glad I rolled the dice, because it was awesome.
I'll do a few parades in Mobile. I'll head back to NOLA for Muses, and maybe Friday's parades. Go back to Mobile for Joe Cain Day. Then head back to NOLA for Fat Tuesday. I'll either drum with a second line, or the Wild Tchoupitoulas. I've drummed with them in all of the Indian events, except Fat Tuesday (it rained every year I knew them before I moved to Colorado).

I have fun at the balls, but the parades bring out the trashiest people I’ve ever seen. I swear it gets worse and worse each year. My kids love going to parade, so I usually try to get through 1 but it’s hell the entire time.

Nope.
Maybe not as much as when I was much younger, and coming in from out of town from grad school and such, but still pumped.
In fact, met up with four other leaders of our group (the responsible types) to go over logistics and such for our usual spot (sorry, LSUFanHouston, but preparing early and having strength in numbers is the only way to go for Uptown Mardi Gras). Between us (really, two separate groups who have teamed up over the last few years), we usually have over 50-70 people for the parades (depending on the day) so we really HAVE to organize with canopies, tarps, chairs, ladders, etc.

I rode in Thoth for a few years and the family of an ex was in Cleopatra forever. It used to be, I couldn't imagine life without Mardi Gras Balls, meetings, parades, etc. Now, just the thought of doing all that crap makes me want to take a nap.

In other words, as Mitch would say, "strip clubs are operating at 100% full capacity"
