We make sure the emphasis is on Jesus and spirituality while still having the traditional Santa stuff.

Jesus isn't real, but Santa is. That's what I tell kids on Christmas.

This does annoy me quite a bit too.
Separation of church and state is an absolute necessity in our country and there are some very powerful politicians that push their Christian beliefs through constant legislation.
Its actually terrifying to me. Leave religion (all religions) in the churches and out of Washington.
Harmless example: Why are alcohol sales prohibited or restricted on Sundays in so many places?

Santa is the same as frosty/grinch/Charlie brown/etc etc etc. He is a character. Why would they get angry? Characters are everywhere.

So what do all these kids do when they see a christmas coke? or winter wonderland on TV?
Come on man, santa is just like any other character. It's not like kids are going to pick up a santa coke can and be like "yo dad, wtf dude, you said this guy wasn't reel. Look, he's right here on a coke can."
I just don't get why it's such a hard concept to grasp that you can have fun with christmas and santa without implying that santa is a real person. That's just ridiculous.

Where can I get some of this?

You can keep Jesus in the season and still have fun with Santa.
It isn't difficult at all, unless you're an abject failure as a parent.

Holy wall of text Batman. Yeah I have plenty of real world experience. I've met a lot of people in my travels, and the Jesus crowd can be a bit much. Also while I was in college, I got into some legal trouble and my wife(girlfriend at the time) had some deeply religious Baptists friends, who basically told her if you keep going out with him we can't be friends anymore. Very sheltered people and self righteous to boot.
Another fine example I live in Alexandria. This town is run by Pentecostals who dictate things like curfew and what businesses are allowed to set up shop. They try to legislate morality and BS.

So your problem is politicians, not Christians.

Abortion laws
That's not a religion issue. That's a murdering babies issue. Call it what you will, you are ending a baby's life before it starts. That can be a seperate thread unto itself, but i have too much work to discuss in depth today.
And to sum it up, nothing is more annoying than an evangelical atheist. Well, maybe crossfitters...

It's the nature of government to project personal beliefs onto other people under the guise of protecting them from something. Almost as if the general public is too stupid so they have to be protected fro themselves.
The blue laws were a way for the religious right to sort of get their hooks into legislation. By banning the sale of booze on Sunday they forced everyone to recognize their day of rest. Christians do this funny thing where when they don't believe in, or support something, they don't want anyone else to be able to do whatever it is they are against.
It's the same reason weed is illegal. Someone put their code above everyone else. Reefer madness was a product of people who wholly believe their code was superior and therefore felt the need to save us from ourselves.

And that qualifies someone to judge a group as a whole?
Listen, i don't care what you believe. I just find it ironic, hypocritical, childish, and cowardly to bash Christians on a message board for believing what they believe, meanwhile stating you don't want others telling you what to do, or judging you. Be consistent.

You're free to have that opinion. In fact, if you don't want to have an abortion you don't have to. Telling someone that they can not do something when it's negative effects don't have anything to do with you, is a real problem we have in the country. The religious faith is partially to blame for this problem. It comes back down to someone placing their beliefs above that of others and forcing those people to abide or else...

Doesn't mean you are still not murdering a child. Justify it however you want, you are still taking a life.

I'm going to teach my kid about Saturnalia instead of Christmas, because it's the same shite.
Merry Saturnalia everyone!
lol, no way would my wife let me do that... I'd rather not do Santa, but it's not in my best interest to have that argument. I just won't try to keep it secret, as soon as she asks I will tell her the truth.
