So if I don't want to celebrate Santa, I should find me a nice community that doesn't celebrate Santa and isolate myself from anything different? Sort of like a safe place on a college campus?
I don't purposely isolate myself from Jews. I just don't happen to know any that celebrate Hanukkah.
I never said what you should do if you don't celebrate Santa.

Jews don't proselytize so it's likely that even if you did know someone celebrating Hanukkah, they would not share that information with you.

All the more reason why my kids wouldn't feel "left out" which is what DG was proposing.

My gf and I have been discussing this quite a bit lately. We're in agreement that Santa takes too much away from the Holiness of the holiday. We (I'm about to propose) were thinking you can easily still do gifts on Christmas, just say you do it in memory of the three wise men giving gifts to the Christ.

Everything in moderation....

We don't "do Santa" with our 2 year old and don't really plan on it.
We are not going to tell her Santa doesn't exist or anything. We just don't talk about Santa around her and she knows the presents are from us, not from Santa.
She knows about Santa from school and other people though. She thinks he is funny.
It has nothing to do with any religious beliefs either.
