I'm down about 6lbs doing ultra low carbs. Lifting weights every other day and cardio too.

That's the plan. With minimal carbs, your body starts to use fat as energy.

Don't listen to everyone who says calories are calories. They aren't. I've lost 18 pounds eating bacon, cheese, salads, and chicken.

My motivation? My blood sugar (and my weight, obviously) was out of whack.
That was my motivation as well. Went in for something unrelated and left with a metformin prescription because my blood sugar was so high. I spent a few months in a physical rehab at one point and half the guys there were diabetics recovering from amputations. Watching those sad SOB's wheeling around the ward scared the shite out of me.

Absolutely, brother. It's a killer.

We happen to live in a state where the sugar industry is a major part of the economy. But it's a fact that too much of it will put you in an early grave. No greater motivation to do better than that!

Exercise won’t help you lose weight as much as people think. It’s mostly diet that does that.

I like beer too much so I decided to only eat 1 meal a day. No lunch/breakfast, no soda or sweet drinks, and no junk food. I might have a snack of fruit/almonds during the day.

My meal is usually a protein and 2-3 different veggies. I will usually have a cheat day on Saturday since it's football season. Also very rare to have a dessert.

I have to sacrifice on meals/junk foods if I want to keep drinking beer on the weekends.

Stop drinking as much.. esp beer. Cut way down on carbs. Smaller portions.
Exercise- combo of cardio and strengthening
Drink lots of water.
Snack less and with healthier shite- nuts and berries or grapes
Track your meals.
Weigh yourself daily or at least a few times a week.

Number 1: WANT to lose weight, otherwise yo won't

UPDATE on trying OMAD diet
Based on what I read here (I know...) I am on the One Meal A Day diet. 23 hours no eat, 1 hour eat whatever I want.
Like others said, first couple of days I couldn't wait to get home from work and snarf down everything not frozen solid.
But after a week, I couldn't finish a thin crust Del Giorno pizza and I've lost 8 pounds pretty easily.
I guess my stomach is shrinking and my brain isn't hooked as much on food.

12 more pounds to go. I'm not walking, except around the office. Double or triple your water intake.

Dieting is short term and weight will return with vengeance

Life choices are long term and weight will stay constant

Low carb. Lost 40 since February. Skip processed sugars. Light exercise.

It's that simple.

I’m not trying to lose but maintain. Low carbs is how I always cut, as well as not eating within 4 hours of going to bed each night. I’m in decent shape though. I run around 20 miles a week

I recently lost some weight and am trying to exercise more and prepare healthy meals. Tonight I am making a beef and shrimp stir fry with some fresh vegetables from the garden.

I had success over the last year with a cheat day once a week. Talking 5000 calories no alcohol, and then 2200-2400 calories the other 6 days, fitting a profile of 90-100 f, 160-180 carbs, and 170 protein. The cheat day helps make it sustainable, for me.

The scale may not go down, but you can change your body composition.

I’m 6’0 248. Most people my size have a solid beer gut. In the mornings before I start eating and drinking fluids I can see an outline of my abs. I’m around 12-14% body fat % at the moment.

The scale should not matter so much as to what your body fat % and body composition looks like
