Im down 10 since early September and am definitely a bit stronger. Working out arms 3-4 times and running 4-5 times weekly. I still eat like shite but the main change has been cutting out most bad carbs and have decreased my sugar intake. Im a snacker so lays, cheetos, etc. have been replaced in my house with nuts and avocados. Eating a metric frick ton of protein as well

Good luck brother. Its hard as shite but man it feels good fitting in to some older clothes and looking better in the mirror

Nope.. read into it. A lot of people don’t understand it and I think it’s a root cause for a lot of issues. Remember the same government that tells you to eat loads of carbs is the same government giving sodium recommendations.

I have more in depth understanding of it than you realize and i got a little chuckle from this. I will reiterate that it shouldn't be that hard to maintain correct sodium levels, you need to go back and read better sources. the average person does not need to be heavily salting anything, nor taking sodium pills. even on keto sodium isnt as much of an issue as other electrolytes K, Ca, Mg that your body isnt nearly as good at regulating as it is sodium. I would look into getting your kidneys checked out or your medications reviewed if you are having to work so much to have normal sodium levels.

Dude.. you aren’t special because you’re in healthcare (I presume) lol and physicians are typically clueless on nutrition. We’ll agree to disagree.

I have lost 90+ lbs but it has taken 8 years. After trying every fad diet and gaining the weight back I decided to try my own Slim Slow diet. I eat what I want but less. Hamburgers, pizza, ice cream is all in the mix but in moderation. Never make a happy plate and always bring home a doggy bag from the restaurant. I have averaged losing about a pound per month doing this. I still weigh a little over 200lbs but better than 300+. My goal weight is 185lbs and it will probably take me 3 years to get there at this rate.

i know im not special, just much more knowledgeable of the topic we are discussing. for shits and giggles read up on hyponatremia, there is tons of pathology. we will certainly agree to disagree if you believe it is normal to require salt pills, heavily salt meals, or drink saltwater to maintain a normal sodium balance.
theres even more new research and studies suggesting to decrease average salt intake, not the other way around like you suggest.

Last year, I lost about 40# with intermittent fasting. Worked like a charm. Then after a surgery and moving back home, the stress was too much and it stopped working. I'm doing weight watchers, I'm down about 10#.

I think this is one of the best ways to do it, and most likely way to lose weight and keep it off. Crash diets or any short term rapid weight loss diets where you lose 20-40 lbs in a period of months usually result in gaining most of that weight back when you stop.

If you can't maintain your eating and exercise habits for a long term period, say at least a year, then you're much less likely to have success. (Says Captain Obvious).

For a normal person eating a standard American diet, no but for keto, yes.

I got tired of looking at my fat self and have lost 52 pounds since last November.

Trick is well known; diet and exercise.

For diet, I DO NOT EAT BETWEEN MEALS I eat a large breakfast (3 eggs, grits OJ and coffee black)
I generally grill chicken or pork for lunch with a large salad with nuts)
For supper, I have a bowl of cereal (non sweetened)

I am retired so I walk 4 miles each morning at an 18 minute per mile pace. I play indoor volleyball twice a week.

I monitor my weight through fitbit app and reward myself occasionally with icecream.

I have lost 27 pounds in two months. Eating much better and improved my exercise routine. Consistency and commitment are the keys.

here is your confusion. the RDA for standard diet sodium is below what is recommended for keto, but in practice most americans consume sodium at amounts within the range of what is recommended for keto dieters. For most people cutting carbs if they continue salting foods like normal their sodium intake will probably be ok, maybe only needing a small increase but shouldn't need pills or drinking saltwater. I would be more concerned about K,Ca,Mg which are much harder to come by in the keto diet than Na and might actually require pills/supplements.

Ok well I do not eat that much sodium (enough for keto) on a regular basis and find it hard to. I track everything. Maybe others have no problem doing it, idk. But I can tell you that when I’m lagging and then have some sodium, I feel 100% better.

I'm no longer losing but I went from 260 down to 140 in about a year by quitting drinking and eating only whole or minimally processed foods. Didn't count a single calorie or pay any attention to portion size or what I ate, so long as they fit the parameters. I was off of hypertension and diabetes meds after the first three weeks. I eventually started exercising regularly but I lost the vast majority of weight in the kitchen before that.

This method is pretty much a whole lifestyle change though so you may or may not be interested. It can also seem very bland and boring at first but that goes away after your taste buds recover from being assaulted by a lifetime of sugar, salt, oils, and artificial flavoring.

As a matter of fact, yes.

I lost 65 lbs in 3-1/2 months simply by cutting carbs and all sugars- and staying my arse away from garbage foods- no fast foods. No exercise, no help from a weight loss program or a physician.
I just made up my mind to do something, and stuck with it. My motivation? My blood sugar (and my weight, obviously) was out of whack. What keeps me honest with myself and in line? Weighing in every Monday and frequently checking my blood-glucose level. That more than anything you can do at home lets you know how your body really reacts to what you're eating. And it encourages you to make better choices. At least it has with me.

I know it sounds like bullshite- but I did it. And if I can, anyone can.

Don't give up on yourself. Because you do have it in you to get it done- I promise. Just do it.

If your generally healthy, fasting works wonders on the body.
Pick a day where you will eat nothing at all for 24 hours. Several things begin to happen to your gut when your stop feeding it. Do some research and feel it out for yourself
It’s not a fad yet but it probably will be
