What's your game plan?

I'm down about 6lbs doing ultra low carbs. Lifting weights every other day and cardio too.

Low carbs, cut out beer, working out 4 days a week.. a few weeks in, 15lbs down, and never felt better. It only takes a little effort.

I've switched to Yuengling Light and walk to the fridge instead of getting the wife to bring me one

Covid induced or, umm, discovered mental health issues haven been discussed a fair bit on the OT.

I bring this up here because sadly some of the better meds(depakote) for bipolar 2 and the like actually make you gain massive weight in a scary short amount of time. Had this issue myself back in May and in one month put on 20 pounds despite riding about 150 miles a week. Granted, I was also eating like dog shite but still.

Then in September i wouldn't take no for an answer from my shrink and he put my on topamax and boom. 20 pounds came off in like two weeks with some clean eating (didn't hurt that those damn pills made me lose any and all interest in food).

Just saying. It's not always just what you eat or what you lift. Some of us are dealing with more than just calories. Don't be afraid to speak up. It's what finally helped me drop a few lbs.

It's really not that easy. More factors than that but I'm sure you come from athletic privilege and cannot relate to the struggle. #NoMuscleNoFatBurn

Day in and day out, I eat like a rabbit & lean protein foods. No soft drinks. No processed foods. Rarely drink alcohol. Workout 4-5 days a week.

I was in decent shape before, but since I started this and cut out the bacon and sausage and such I’ve gotten in really good shape.

I will still eat pizza or whatever with friends, go to an ocasional happy hour with a date, and eat Sunday dinner at my parents’ house. This is all guilt free since my day to day diet is pretty clean.

Having a goal of what you want to do when you get more fit is great. Not just lose weight. Could be something like play basketball with your kids all day, hike the Rockies, look good for a woman, etc.

ETA don’t think of it like a diet. People go off of diets. Think of it as a lifestyle change. Do what’s sustainable. Substitute principle works too. I’m not eating bacon anymore, instead I will have grilled shrimp type thing…

If it's simple then why America has an obesity problem for decades? OT likes to simply things with calorie in/calorie out. Similar to "spend less than you make". But almost everyone is in debt.

Basically no carbs unless they’re fiber

I pretty much eat fish, shrimp, and chicken. Once a week I eat red meat. Bacon and ham for breakfast when I eat breakfast

Drink water and an occasional Dr Pepper zero

I Eat green beans, broccoli, strawberries, grapes, eggs, lettuce, mushrooms, bell peppers, and some cheese

If I eat bread it is keto bread, buns, or carb cutter flour tortillas.

I usually do 1 mild cheat meal a week

A1C down to 5.8 and I’ve gone from 248 to 205 since March

I also eat a lot of pecans

It really is that simple. People are just lazy, ignorant, and don’t think about how much/ what they’re eating. Once you start paying attention and logging the calories that you consume, it is quite easy to do without some higher calorie food items or substitute them for low calorie options.
