So they force them to live on campus and ban them from having cars
Brilliant

Parking was easy before the athletic admin building was constructed in the early 90's. Students lost a third of the parking around the stadium.
LSU had 25K total students in 1994 when that building was constructed
LSU now has 38K students
The admin building is NOT the issue

With 100 degrees outside and 100% humidity, and paid parking permit, that’s not an efficient plan. You are wasting 15-25 minutes every morning trying to find parking.
In shorts and a t-shirt. You’re complaining about having to walk a half a mile to class at 9am in the morning. If it’s tough to find a parking spot, get to campus 30 minutes earlier.

Sorry sir cant park your RV for the LSU Baseball game. The parking lot is for Freshmen students.

ULL has been doing this for years.
Why can’t they build more parking garages?

If anything the "freshman lot" will be out by the vet school. Easy bus access into/out of campus from there
They just need to run security 24/7 for it

They're ridiculously expensive and don't increase capacity at a high enough rate

It’s all about money. Parking garages cost around $25k/parking space on average

And here’s the kicker… All the main commuter lots that are furthest away like the Old Front 9 and Vet Med have busses that will bring you into the interior of campus. And if it’s later in the evening… He can call campus transit to bring him directly to or from his vehicle
But that wouldn’t make for a good thread.

I see a lot of electric scooters on campus as well. If I was a commuter, I'd have one

well that's completely different.
Just re-read, and yes it is. My bad.

People keep saying half a mile. Maybe 15 years ago. LSU keeps building and moving the commuter lots farther out. It's a solid mile from the back of the Ceba lots to the library. That's usually the easiest place to find a parking spot. And it's not always easy anymore. There's barely any parking on the north side of campus anymore.

LSU has buses that pick up people in designated spots in the commuter lot and will bring them to the main bus transfer spot at the top of the hill.

He was talking about getting to class in PFT which, you’re right, is one of the most accessible buildings on campus parking wise. It’s much more difficult to get to other buildings in the interior of campus, but people do it. That’s the sacrifice you make if you don’t want to ride the bus. It’s really not that difficult to wake up 30 minutes earlier for your 9am class and walk to class on time.
That doesn’t mean LSU shouldn’t try to improve the parking situation, but I’m really not sure what more they can do other than something like what OP is talking about where freshman have to park in commuter lots and take a bus to campus.

They are Gen Z now. millennials may text while driving but Gen Z snap and take pictures of themselves doing duck faces while driving which is even worse.

I put a bike rack on my car and parked at the back of CEBA. Took me 5 minutes to get to class at Lockett and anywhere else I needed to be.
The "parking challenges" are not too difficult to overcome. People are just spoiled today thinking they should be able to park directly in front of each of their buildings.

UNC in Chapel Hill does not allow freshman to have cars. But the free buses including for those living in the area that are not students is great and takes you wherever you need to go.

Those who say this will never happen should know that that they already made it mandatory for all freshmen below 21 to live on campus unless they live with a guardian within 50 miles of campus.

Yes it’s real. Already implemented this year.
