Considering a lot of people live in Prairieville and commute, this makes absolutely zero fricking sense. You kind of need a car in BR, regardless of freshmen status.
What percentage of freshman do you think lives in Pville?

mandatory for all freshmen below 21 to live on campus unless they live with a guardian within 50 miles of campus.
This is pretty common. Was there outrage over this and why?

LSU exploring prohibition for cars on campus for freshmen
Dumb, give Freshman last dibs on parking and call it that.

Nothing surprises me with LSU anymore. What happens if these freshmen have off campus jobs they need to drive to?
Will probably force those freshmen to accept those on-campus jobs that pay $7.25 an hour. Almost all jobs on campus pay $7.25. Then it’s $7.50 your second year but that’s it.

Yeah but they banned freshmen from living off campus this year. You sound like a reincarnation of some crappy European soldier in WWII who got caught pants down when the Germans advanced because you thought it would never happen.
They didn’t ban freshman from living off campus. They required them to live on campus if they didn’t apply for a waiver.
And there were plenty of waivers issued (location, family, cost, etc.)

So they can buy those 4.99 hot pockets at the union store since they won't be able to drive to Winn-Dixie

Several schools up here already do the freshman thing, especially if they live on campus.
UofL uses the stadium parking as a huge student lot and students hop on the black loop or red loop (public transpiration buses restricted to UofL’s campus) to get to classes.

That doesn't really address your little outburst
ETA: Be mad at the Reveille for talking about it this past week I guess.
Context and how the story is presented here is what pisses me off.
Vlood did it yesterday with “open admissions”.
You wouldn’t believe the number of times I’ve seen a thread here with no basis of fact started and then 2 weeks later someone go “Whats with LSU is going back to open admissions?”

The context is that they are exploring. You said he din't post facts, right after you confirm that they are exploring.

Yea, but you've confirmed this one to be legit
ETA: I say let's just discuss the ridiculousness of the admin considering this

This would be a really dumb move. Those who say this will never happen should know that that they already made it mandatory for all freshmen below 21 to live on campus unless they live with a guardian within 50 miles of campus.
Wut?

That would be stupid.
Tulane is a shitton smaller and has very little room for parking.
They created this problem by requiring freshmen live on campus

The point is they’re *always* exploring. Meaning someone in the admin is pushing this dumb idea and it gets shot down every year. OP is presenting this as something new and another “blow” to LSU.
And as I said...resident parking is being squeezed with new buildings. But they don’t have enough upperclassmen that live on campus to take over the current spots nor do they have a need for faculty/staff parking in resident zones.
Yes, more residents will be having to park further. But they aren’t eliminating/replacing them for the foreseeable future.

OP also touting his “anonymous sources” like he actually knows anyone important.

Correct. The former Parking director at LSU always reminded everyone that LSU doesn’t have a parking problem. It has a convenient parking problem.
The reason more urban schools limit cars on campus to upperclassman is because they literally don’t have enough parking spots available.

You must not have seen the new PFT building then. Good luck trying to find parking between 9am - 12pm that’s less than half a mile from PFT.
The administration is not going to openly say we have a parking problem because that means the responsibility would fall upon them.
LSU has a major parking problem.

You realize your post is agreeing with mine, right?
There are more spots on campus than parking permits issued. That is a fact.

LSU's master plan aims to prohibit all personal vehicles during normal working hours.
They will create "commuter lots" with buses to bring pedestrians onto campus

Sounds more like you have a walking problem.
