A drunk college kid was trying to get into a house late at night.
Buddy of mine woke up on the kitchen floor of some Asian couples home after blacking out. He said they were poking him with a broom to wake him up and they were super nice and understanding. Cooked him breakfast and drove him home

Parents will be parents and you can't blame them for that, but if a homeowners hears someone trying to get into his house he has to protect himself.
The homeowner doesn't know its some drunk college kid trying to get into his house. He just knows someone was trying to get in, then when he goes outside that person keeps coming forward even after a warning shite. Its unfortunate they lost their kid.
Anyone remember when that exchange student in BR got shot and killed in Baton Rouge? It was in the 90s and he went to the wrong house. He was dressed up on his way to a Halloween party, went knock on the wrong house and got shot. This sounds similar.

Its 10:40 on a Monday night. I am sure the homeowner was startled and nervous as hell. The video will tell a lot and as the sheriff said it's obvious the owner was trying to get the kid to leave.
Exactly. It isn’t like the homeowner saw him coming up the walk and ambushed him. He was awakened by the man trying to get into his house. That triggers all kinds of self-defense reactions.

Well, luckily Louisiana is a Stand Your Ground state. One of the few things our state does right.

I agree. I was kinda kidding there.
Shitty situation but I don't see the homeowner as having any legal liability.
if this was in Orleans, JW would attempt to prosecute him though.

So, if anyone sees a person with swim trunks on, you know for one, they’re not armed.
And it's irrelevant to the facts of a strange man advancing on you in the dark outside your own home - after a warning shot!
Depending on the sizes, ages, how fast party boy was advancing, etc, the homeowner could have legitimately been terrified for his life.

We should make alcohol illegal. People do so much stupid shite from getting drunk. No one is doing some dumb shite like this, after smoking a blunt.

It would make me laugh if some sniper turned the overzealous lawyer's head into a canoe
this wont go anywhere. the lawyer knows he wont get paid.

Didn't something like this happen in Baton Rouge several years ago? Maybe in Southdowns?

I agree with you on the lawyer just trying for a pay day, but the sniper shooting him is a very weird and heartless statement.

Yes, by the son of a super wealthy BR family. There was no lawsuit or investigation beyond the initial finding.

it sure as hell was if he didnt stop after the first shot, if it were me and he didnt stop after first shot then im putting at least 3 more in him and not just one more

If you're so drunk that a warning shot does not scare you away, that's pretty bad. I'm guessing that it would seem apparent that the dude was completely wasted or high on drugs, but the video should be helpful there. But if you get that wasted, then you put yourself in some bad positions.

Yeah, sure, I'm 3 ft in front of a belligerent dude and I'm going to grab my phone, call 911, and then patiently wait for 2+ mins for the police to show up, and expect that drunky mcferalpants 3 ft in front of me allows time for them to arrive.

Well, there is also another plausible scenario - the kid was legitimately up to no good and the homeowner stumbled upon him.
