If you shelled out $50k for an event, and preferred that it be "Adults Only", shouldn't the parents (each of which cost hundreds per head to eat and drink, which costs them nothing) with kids be respectful of the fact that this event isn't about what they want or what's convenient for them?
Blows my mind anyone will argue against this.

That's all I know about you. Run along now.

Trying to make some bad decisions soon? Only if you're an OT8, though.

never said the parents should bring the kids anyways
if I got an invite that said no kids, unless it was for an immediate family or best friend (which none of them would do this), I probably just wouldn't go

Once again it's their wedding, go or not it's your choice. If you were really a friend you'd be happy and celebrate their time.

Why wouldn't someone want kids at their wedding.
Because of this:

They love to run around and dance.
I don't need your kid running all over the dance floor. The majority of weddings that I've been to lately have the atmosphere of a classy bar, with alcohol flowing heavily. Why would kids need to be involved in that?

No. I think I'll hang out here for a while.

Didn't have kids at my wedding and my wife and I loved not having them running around. It's also better for the parents because they can enjoy themselves without chasing the little frickers all over the place.
We went to a wedding that was a few months after ours and they had kids running all around, even during the first dance. At that point, my wife and I were thrilled that we stuck to our guns and didn't invite kids.

And that is the appropriate response to that. Just hire a sitter or don't go, not a big deal.
If you'd rather not go without your kids, the people getting married probably aren't that close to you and vice-versa. I'm sure the bride and groom won't have any problems with not spending a bunch of money on you to be there.

You're right. It's their wedding and their choice. If they want a no kids rule, then they have the right to do so.
And just as they have the right to make that rule, I have the right to find it stupid.

right, which is what I said
my whole point is that it was kinda shitty like I think having a cash bar at your wedding is shitty

I have been to weddings with kids that are a blast and to weddings without that were a blast. And to ones with/without that sucked.
personally I prefer them without, not b.c of the kids but i end up babysitting the kids. I naturally gravitate to those of my maturity level, but since I am 6', I get stuck with them.

No question there.

I feel like a lot of people in this thread have only been to weddings at their local backwoods church and then headed over to the VFW hall.

Nope. I'm on your side now chief. Every wedding I go to from here on out with kids, I will think to myself "hey, who brought these little bastards here? They're ruining everything!"

Then it's not a huge deal! This girl acts like she got slapped in the face. It's a fricking invite.

This post is a dumpster fire

And she doesn't even have kids, mind you.
