Is it that hard to understand why a early or mid twenties couple wouldn't want kids at their wedding?

They'd much rather drink, dance, and enjoy themselves without making sure "Paxton" isn't peeing in the fountain or some other shite, and they'd also rather not have to leave the party at 8:30pm because it's already time for the kids to be in bed.

The ones that want to stay out will get a sitter. There's no need to dictate "you must not bring kids so you can stay out and have a good time."

And when we mentioned to them it would be a "no kids allowed" event, their response was "we wouldn't have brought them anyway."

cool which, to me, seems the most logical

just let the parents decide

but its your day, do whatever you want, just kinda rubs me the wrong way

I'm not disagreeing with you

although I don't think I've ever been to a wedding where the kids made it miserable or so that nobody had a good time

maybe y'all know a bunch of shitty parents or something, not sure

I've seen a few wedding receptions terribly disrupted and only 2 of them were by children. However, when people have their kids there that's all they're usually attending to. It's done so that the focus of the day stays on the reason everyone is even there in the first place.

It's their event. And if they don't want to run the risk of kids crying during the ceremony, spilling stuff, or anything else that a child would normally do at their formal event, that's their prerogative. And it's the parents' prerogative to hire a sitter and go or stay home.

Additionally, if your wedding is a sit down event, you have to have seating for every single person, including kids. So if John and Jane Parent decide to bring little Paxton and Janice along, that's two more seats you have to fit.

I just don't see what is so rude about having a blanket rule of "no children please." Again, it would be totally different if someone was told not to bring their children and when they get there, kids are running around. THAT would be rude.

Is it that hard for you to understand that kids really don't affect the couple getting married. It's stupid. It's also stupid for you to get all worked up over it.

And who are you to dictate to the couple getting married who they should or shouldn't allow at their wedding?

I got slammed for reading an invite and not clarifying my math. The OT has gone back to cut-throat stage. It was nice here for about a week.

my wedding wasn't formal

most wedding I've attended I wouldn't consider "uber formal" other than the clothes

It's their wedding, if they don't want kids attending that's their prerogative. Kids were not invited to my wedding.

There's no reason for them to be there.

If a couple doesn't want children at their wedding, then they are well within reason to request such. It certainly isn't "stupid" or unreasonable.

Seems to me the OP wasn't complaining one way or the other. Was just surprised people were actually putting something like that on an invitation, considering how PC everyone is now days.
