I do think it would explain a lot about what he said on saturday/today if he did identify as alt-right. But that might be problematic for republicans if he did. I can't say what the problem would be though.

By they way, Trump himself did not refer to BLM, Antifa, or SJWs by name any time at all during the campaign even though he had every incentive to do so. He didn't even refer to republicans and democrats as liberal or conservative.
This past week was the first time in memory where Trumps specifically singled out Americans by an ideological box and you could tell he was pretty uncomfortable doing that.
