Dear Governor Landry,
Please void this agreement the day after you are sworn in.

I'm sure it will be the upper crust of society who decide a 2.5 hour one way trip to Baton Rouge with no car is a great plan. Maybe they can procure wheels while here and return home

For the tax payer, yes.

For the politicians and lobbyist, money well spent.

We took Amtrak from New Orleans to San Antonio last Christmas when Southwest melted down. It took 16 hours for what would be an 8 1/2 hr car ride. I would at least double that estimate. Still a cool thing that they're adding the service. 1000x better than a bus.

I guess they are banking on this being mostly business commuters ready to hop on and off like a subway but with only 1 train per day you'd have more people trying to get on

Can you imagine planning for the population of South Louisiana to be able to quickly hop on and off this thing?

Every stop will be ten minutes at least.

What is with politicians and their love for rail service? Has to be the kickbacks right?

There are nimrods here in the BR area who really believe that by having this train service it will lower pollution and the amount of co2 being farted into the atmosphere. Thus saving the Earth.
Will there be a bar car in this train?

Maybe they can employ and station in Gonzales and LaPlace a crew of Japanese style 'Train Pushers' to keep things moving efficiently and prompt.

Maybe to the airport would be useful if there is enough parking at the upstream stops. Parking at MSY can be hit or miss these days. Also would also need more than one round trip a day for to accommodate various departure/arrival times

I can drive from Gonzales to MSY in almost 30 minutes, Downtown Nola in under and hour. Why would I want to take the train that won't bring me back home that day also limiting the time I spend, relying on train schedules.

Is this what Broome gave $250,000 to the EBR RDA for? Amtrak?

I can drive there faster.

And I can leave when I want. I don’t have to wait on the afternoon train when my boss says have a nice afternoon off.

Okay? It’s obviously not meant for you then.
