"back to war"

"welcome back"

both imply that we left at some point or that Trump never got involved

stop playing dumb

The OP implies that these airstrikes are "new" when they are in fact not new at all. Trump continued the same policies of air strikes, and even expanded them in some respects.

The problem being if you let Israel handle it, they will handle it, and that’s going to piss off a bunch of their neighbors, but I do agree. Let them handle it.

there has been some sort of military action abroad for every year of your life, and many years before you were born and there probably will be for all of your life and beyond

The problem is that Israel cannot handle it, outside of using nuclear weapons, because Iran has the demographic and strategic advantage, through the fact it has proxies through the ME, and in Damascus itself. Israel's military is designed for defensive, shorter operations, and Iran's military doctrine is akin to "death by 1000 cuts" through asymmetrical operations. Israel and the KSA want the US to do the hard fighting, and has been explicit about that desire.

Typical nation building globalist Democrat - starting wars

Trump, for all of his criticisms, was a peaceful president. Probably because the world was scared of him

Nah. He didn't start "new wars," which is good as far as Republican presidents go, but he certainly continued them.

Scott Horton - Enough Already (YouTube link) if you want most of this Middle East story in an easily digestible format. Short videos, great book if the videos inspire you to want to know more.

Here’s the thing. We have more troops that are going to be deployed to Syria this year. I have some friends that are being deployed over there, and actually know someone who has been serving in Iraq, and about a month ago, they moved him and his entire group to Syria, so they’re now in Syria. Biden is getting us a hell of a lot more involved in Syria for some reason.

Absolutely true.

He did try to end some of them too though.

Pulling out of Afghanistan and Iraq was resoundingly condemned by Republican politicians, Democrat politicians, and the majority of progressives.

The only people who “seemed” to support pulling out of those areas were the “conservative” supporters/Trump supporters.

There is zero political will to leave the Middle East and the public support shifts based on who is in power.

Although, the anti-war left hasn’t supported leaving since Bush was in power.

The whole fricking bunch on both sides are "war hawks" considering we've been in some kind of international conflict for the majority of my 39 years on this earth (if not all).

Anyone who believed it was going to change under a Democrat or Republican was fooling themselves.

You're preaching to the choir. I say the Dems are war hawks because they stir shite up everywhere. Republicans are simply weak. Had Rand Paul been elected instead of Trump, we wouldn't have any troops over there. They would be home where they are supposed to be. They use the military to make money. They don't give a shite about our soldiers.

False, not to say Rand wouldn’t have tried.

As we saw with Trump’s attempt, it simply doesn’t matter because the majority of the governmental establishment supports staying.

There is no political support for it from the politicians.

The first direct attack on Syrian forces under Assad's control occurred under Trump. Trump certainly expanded the operation, and then attempted to end involvement, only to be overruled.

Not saying you are wrong but do you have a link to this? I know we bombed Iranian militias a few times. Are you maybe talking about the airport bombing? Fwiw I was complaining against us being in Syria at all and had plenty of meltdowns in here about our involvement there. You can also search any thread on TD regarding us pulling troops out of Syria or Kurds and you’ll find me in there being for pulling troops out.

This is nothing new. We have been in Syria since Inherent Resolve started.
