No debate on the fact that STERLING pulled a gun on a guy, that the guy called 911 or that STERLING then resisted arrest and tried to pull the gun on officers who then shot him.
Sex offender and drug/dvd salesman as well.
Wasn't he on probation and gun was a violation likely putting him back in prison?
It's still aggravates me that Obama went to the murdered Dallas police memorial and tried to put this trash in same breath as those officers murdered (Baton Rouge/EBR cops then get murdered or suffer debilitating brain damage still battling to this day). Also his AG left the already finished investigation that found nothing to charge officers to go unreported until next President was in office.
If Obama really wanted to offer hope and change he would have addressed blacks directly telling them to trust him to investigate and tell them the truth instead he delayed reporting findings and let blacks still believe things like hands up don't shoot and that Sterling didn't do anything to deserve his death just like the Dallas cops. There is a reason that up until COVID black employment was better under Trump than the first half black President.

This is the main thing that would really matter in the courtroom, and it can't be proven either way.
There are problems with this case in court which is why I'm sure it is being settled. For starters, the first officer appeared calm and appeared to have things under control. Salamoni rolls in and immediately draws his weapon screaming "I'll shoot you in your fricking head" within seconds (the jury would hear that endlessly during the trial). After the ineffective tasing, Salamoni then tackles Sterling as he is backed up to a car with his arms out. I'm not in any way implying that it wasn't a clean shoot b/c no one knows whether or not the gun was pulled. Salamoni can't be prosecuted b/c no one can prove it didn't happen and that's the reason for the settlement. In court, the plaintiff attorneys would hammer the fact that Salamoni escalated the situation and that won't play well in front of a jury. I don't like the settlement anymore than anyone else, but if you are looking at this objectively, the case isn't as clear and many think it would be. The city could end up spending a fortune on legal fees and still have to pay out $5 million while having the court case play out in the news just causing more issues. This was a lose lose situation from the beginning.

They can also help with the legal fees for his brother who was recently arrested for a double homicide.

WRONG. Salamoni clearly saw the revolver which is why he was yelling "GUN!" He wasn't just making that up. Furthermore, in his reports he clearly describes the handle of the revolver and how Sterling kept pulling up on it as Salamoni kept pushing it back down into the pocket.
That's the part that the politicians would never let be explained to the public. It wasn't debatable when you read the reports and Salamoni's explanation. Sterling 100% had the gun and was trying to pull it. That negates just about everything else. When you pull a gun on the police, all but the most biased person is going to realize that all bets are off.

So is Baton Rouge actually gonna pay it? Because I know someone who won a lawsuit against New Orleans and went years without seeing a dime. I haven’t seen him in a couple of years. For all I know he still may not have any of that money.

I thought that there is a $500,000 limitation of governmental liability in Louisiana for the wrongful death of any one individual. In fact, I’m not even sure anyone can recover if the deceased were actually engaged in the commission of a felony and were found to be more than a certain percentage at fault. In this case, Sterling arguably committed aggravated assault on the person he threatened, was a felon in possession of a firearm, and resisted arrest with force.

It’s crazy that you can kill people in a car accident for so much less.

They already got millions from the gofundme.
They don’t deserve a dime and any metro council member that votes for that should be put in Mike’s Cage

Look at it like a stimulus for the local economy.

It is established that he didn’t pull the gun.
It is insignificant whether he pulled it or not.
The tape shows him pumping his arm back and forth towards the area where the gun was.
They knew he had a gun because they felt it.
He should not have tried to pull his gun.
He could have fired his gun if he had gotten his hand on it.
He would probably be alive if he had not tried to pull his gun.
It is a moot point whether he got it out of his pocket or whether they saw it.

I doubt it. He’d either be in jail or killed some other way.
