Yet I’m sure Alton knew that if he was caught with a gun it would be his third strike and he would end up going to Angola for life... at the time the altercation happened the cops did not know this. What Alton did was basically suicide by cop.

Sounds like his son and brother are moving to a gated community out in West Feliciana.

This is exactly why they got rid of Lea Anne Batson. She wouldn't have put up with it.

LA Revised Statutes 13:5106. The limit of liability for a political subdivision for the wrongful death of any one individual (no matter how many claimants and no matter how many lawsuits) is a total of $500,000. This does not include economic damages such as loss of support. Theoretically, there might be some bigger bucks for loss of support, but it would have to be proven and he did not appear to be a big breadwinner for his children. Doesn’t it infuriate you BR people that your council would authorize payment of ten times the amount it would be legally obligated to pay? Again, it doesn’t matter how many children or relatives make claims, the TOTAL amount of liability for Sterling’s wrongful death is $500K, exclusive of economic damages.

frick these pieces of shite. They’ll squander or have all of that money stolen from them in 6 months

The family will probably get about 1 million. The rest will be stolen by the attorneys and pastors.
In this particular case, better the fricking ill gotten gains go to the scumbag attorneys and “pastors” than to this “model” family. They’ll probably blow all the cash on cigarettes, booze and status symbol cars that under normal circumstances they couldn’t afford, much less get approved for financing in a million years. It’s the lesser of two pathetic evils.

It’s a shame that Alton Sterling did more for his family being a dead thug than he ever did when he was alive.

That money will be the brutal downfall of all those ignorant assholes. And I won’t be feeling sorry for a one of them.

The lawsuit is scheduled for trial March 1, but the East Baton Rouge Parish Metro Council is slated Aug. 26 to consider a $5 million settlement. If the measure is approved, it would authorize the Parish Attorney's Office to offer the settlement to Sterling's family with dollars appropriated from the city-parish's Insurance Reserve Funds.
he resisted
and ended up getting 5 more police assassinated....
