Another way the reward works is that it puts pressure on the suspects (if there’s more than one) to turn themselves in because they get scared that someone will rat them out to collect the reward. The suspect will say that he wasn’t the trigger man and will try to get a deal to testify against his buddy.

That’s modern folklore.
Almost fifty years ago in Baton Rouge, right about the time BRPD opened a substation on Highland Rd, a local thug named “Ponycat” Smith ran in the door of an LSU bar (The Keg) and indiscriminately opened fire with a handgun wounding several student patrons. Since the crime was inexplicable, the only reported reason besides thuggery was that it was a gang initiation. I think the guy had seen a film then playing in theaters that involved a black guy shooting up a white bar as part of an “initiation”. Don’t know what happened to that guy. Probably rotted in prison or died young.

What are your thoughts on age? I think i heard witness say 25ish...but I am thinking teens still living at home, since they were walking around, and they probably live within a 1/2 mile of the murder
There are a whole lot of adults still living at home, too. Don’t let that influence potential age.

Just my thoughts. Not saying I am right. Hopefully they will make some arrests soon...my money is on teens though.

Got to be imo as well. The chance of two mid-20's on foot walking up Gov't with a 9 and then walking through a stopped or almost stopped rail car versus 2 teens doing the same is low. Got to be teens with a rap sheet is the most likely profile and why SWB and MP are posturing.

You clearly don’t know many black people if you think they’d eat fries after a random passer by. Most black people are weird about that type stuff.

I have heard today from reliable source it was gang intiation
No way this is it. There would have been others. And how fortuitous for the bangers if they were supposed to murder a sorority girl and one just happens to roll up and get trapped by the train for them.
It’s just a couple of evil, dangerous animals that saw a helpless girl and they decided they wanted to take whatever she had and ended up killing her because they had no fear of consequences.

There's definitely been a rash of 14-18yr olds in the news for heinous crimes. I'm an Occam's Razor kinda guy...the most logical answer is probably correct.
Teens out and about heading somewhere across the tracks, encounters stopped train, stepped through and saw a soft target. They decide to carjack, she refuses to roll down the window and maybe throws the car in reverse and they (or he) open(s) fire.

I’m trying to stay polite with this but I think they had other plans in mind and that went out the window when she tried to escape.
Given what happened with the jogger in Memphis recently, the girl may have been thinking they had the same thing in mind.

So I wonder if detectives have checked out local emergency rooms in the real longshot of finding someone admitted with a suspicious broken leg/arm/bodily injury/squashed foot? Perhaps Allie actually DID hit one of the perps in her effort to turn around because of the train, or flee her attacker. I mean, that could be seen as disrespect, and make a perp open fire, no?
I would think it wouldn't hurt to check ER visits for that night. Unfortunately, I think the only way this is solved is through a lucky break.

Honestly, I believe MP and SWB are trying to ignore it and hope it goes away.
That's exactly what they are doing. They are just hoping it will run its cycle and that soon enough people will move on to something else.
And with 8 gangs (I had no idea it was that many, some of them had to form since SWB has been in office right? Or does anyone know if there has been that many for awhile?)
I am starting to think the BRPD protect at least one of these gangs. With the amount of police officers who quit over the past several years, the ones who stayed... I would think a certain amount of them did so because they had no other options or they are able to take advantage of their job in away they are able to profit in other (illegal) way.

I feel like I’m in fricking South Park.
“We have 12 gangs and they all commit hate crimes! I do what I want!”

The cops were pretty clear in the press conference that they didn’t believe it had anything to do with a gang initiation. I suppose it could be but it’s really unlikely. That’s a modern folklore.
Look, I have a friend who heads the gang unit in a major city in Oklahoma, where there are multiple gangs. Gang initiations don’t involve rolling up on a completely random person and unloading a clip in them as they sit in their car. That’s just not how they work.
Not saying it’s not gang related crime. They could have been carjacking her and it went wrong when she resisted.
Gangs don’t say, hey, you want to be in a gang. Go shoot a white person stopped in their car. That’s folklore.

That would definitely be bad for business.

From the BRPD press conference after mall shooting in February
"There's a certain group of individuals"
We don't say "gang related" because that describes organization, we use the term "group related."
So according to Paul 8 gangs have organized in the last 7 months

What if... (and Im trying to think outside the box, because I care) a couple broke thugs saw the fries or bag of food and simply wanted to snatch it because they were hungry.... if ur hangry and don't get the food, is it enough to pop off 10 rounds ??

Wow, just wow. Nakamoto seems to have gotten off his arse the last several days and started bringing up "gangs" in BR. I'm sure he reads this board so maybe he can take this ball and run with it to put some pressure on MP. Hey Chris, LSUMJL just gave you your 6pm lead in tonight.
