My point was that there was legal precedence. I wasn't conducting an exhaustive search. The SC's refusal to hear the case only confirms to me that the school district acted within its rights to discipline the student's speech.
Your additional example deals with libel, not an expressed threat.
There have also been plenty of cases where students have been disciplined for posing with toy and real firearms on social media while making veiled threats.

Dude every high school in Alabama is like that. Their parents talk like that at home. Nobody considered Spain Park the “other side of Hoover” before they built the school there. Rich white kids are entitled and spoiled.

The kids I graduated with were the same way. Boys and girls both. I can remember almost every desk having swastikas drawn on it and racial slurs.

The funny thing about the types of kids in the video is they’re always the upper crust suburban whites that do this.

As posted earlier, it's CLEARLY stated in the student handbook that there is an expectation of high moral and ethical behavior by students of the school, who are considered representatives of the school and its culture when they're off campus. Really, this verbiage shouldn't even be necessary; it's common sense.
You really think schools are going to allow their names tarnished and heightened tensions within the school by just letting kids get away with pure hate speech?
