Per usual, the comments are filled with left lane cruisers who don't understand traffic flow.

OT has a fair amount of those who always find these threads (probably while they're currently driving parallel to another car) to defend themselves and decry speeders - even though there is good research that points to lane changes causing more accidents than speeding.

Living around Baton Rouge, I can say this will never work here, unless on the REALLY open highway. Traffic is constantly too heavily. We could use more accessible lanes- not less. The evening rush hour in the town is from 13:00-21:00.

My bill would allow high powered cannons on all vehicles that do not hog the left lane. Once a person refuses to move over after a reasonable amount of time, drivers will be able to vaporize the frick out of the car without any penalty or charges.

I'm far more likely to be killed trying to pass left lane cruisers in a tight spot than to kill anyone with my speed.

Now, obviously, a tire issue or whatever can kill you at any time, but I'm talking about driving behavior.

I briefly taught a driver's ed class one summer in grad school. I said if there is one thing you take away from this class, the left lane is for passing only.

Moving out of the way so someone behind you can recklessly drive well over the speed limit is participation in a criminal conspiracy.

This law does good things but it still sucks.

I wish they'd extend this to 4 lane US highways too....Every morning there's somebody either shaving or putting on makeup in the left lane on US431 slowing us all down.

His bill would prohibit a driver from staying in the left lane on an interstate for more than a mile and a half without completely passing another vehicle.

Riddle me this... If you are a left lane driver an you see a cop pull up behind you aren't you going to get in the right lane? I mean I get that's the point, but are cops just doing to drive around and pull up behind left lane drivers and hit their trip odo?

You vastly underestimate how much your average left lane a-hole is not paying attention to anything but what's directly in front of them and/or their phone.

not unless he's code three, they're just another car, but if an emergency vehicle is on the shoulder you can be ticketed if you don't change lanes toward the middle

People who jack off to left lane rules spend more time posting in this thread than any time they’d save if everyone drove how they wanted them to.

Unfortunately, my wife's family is from Alabama and I had to make a drive last weekend. The people in Alabama really need to be retrained on driving. I see left lane driving in a lot of states but not at the level that I see it in Alabama. There was one part where it was 6 lanes near Birmingham and there were 5 cars, all in the left most lane and no cars in the 2 lanes to the right of them.

It's not about saving time. It's a safety issue.

Well they better get to paving the middle and right lanes on 20/59 because they’re completely fricked...hell, even the left lane is shite! Like a previous poster stated...looks like they’ve been carpet bombed.

If we could ban moving mobile homes on the interstate (at least in high traffic areas) between 7am and 9am, that would be great.
