That is already the law here, under Louisiana Revised Statutes 32:71 (especially subsections (B)(1)(a) and (B)(1)(b)) and 32:73.1. Read them at the Legislature's website, https://www.legis.la.gov/Legis/Law.aspx?d=88525 and https://www.legis.la.gov/Legis/Law.aspx?d=285103.
Now if Alabama makes the idiots, morons, and douchebags follow that sort of law better better than Louisiana does, well, my hat will be off to them.

I think Bama baws doing 100 in the left lane are probably doing that fine on their own.
The average speed on 459 in Bham has to be 105 mph. The trucks in the middle lane doing 95 are pulling down the average.

This is a good bill that should be implemented. At the same time, it would affect me as a lot of times I will just stay in the left lane when driving as it gets annoying passing then switching then passing then switching then passing then switching, etc.

The idea behind the law is good, but unless it's enforced, it'll be useless.
The worst stretch of left lane drivers I've ever seen is I-10 between New Orleans and Slidell. It's three lanes the entire way, every time I drive it, there are cars in a line doing 68 in the far left lane while the middle and right lanes are completely open.
I wish State Troopers in La. would enforce the passing laws on that stretch.

Apparently he hasn’t driven the stretch of I 65 between Pelham and Montgomery. The right lane, at times, feels like it was carpet bombed 15 years ago and never repaved. I drive 85 in the left lane and get over when someone approaches. But I’m not shaking my truck around needlessly because of some stupid law. I’ve made it from north of Clanton to Montgomery in the left lane before. Probably a 40-50 mile stretch.

Not only will it cut down road rage, it will also make the roads safer. It’s far safer when traffic flows freely instead of when it gets stacked up because some oblivious a-hole wants to ride mirror to mirror mile after mile.

I’m all for it as well. But, there are a few highways around here (KC) that winter has treated harshly. Buckeled and pitted in the right lane. I’m not riding on that shite.

Just this morning...going over Governor's Drive/US431...passed a box truck who was in the left lane (I was in the right lane), with an Alabama State Trooper following me.
I hope they enforce this. Box truck was probably doing about 45-50. I passed him doing 55-56 (due to the State trooper on my arse). Speed limit is 55.
