IMO the bigger difference is probably this..

quote:

"I have a lot of friends at traditional school, and every day after school and during school, they’re doing so much homework, they’re spending all this time on schoolwork, they’re so stressed out, and they’re just miserable," Kristine said during an interview with co-host Ainsley Earhardt.

The Alpha School junior revealed that she and other classmates finish their academics in three-hour blocks daily and spend the rest of their time working on "passion projects."

Versus the actual use of AI itself.

It's why Montessori schools tend to be more productive and popular, there's flexibility to meet the child's needs instead of no differential instruction (or the ability to do so in large student groups).

I'm always hesitant to say this would work in bigger student populations when it's utilized right now with such a small group of students. And likely a very selective group of students.

New jobs and opportunities are coming.

So do you think we should still have any of these jobs following technological advancements?

-horse and buggy factory workers
-travel agent
-fax machine repair men
-etc

You wouldn't see teachers replaced, but their roles would change. A decent bit of a teacher's job is lesson planning. This seems to remove that, along with some instruction.

So they would be babysitters for real now?

When this comes out to we get to cut teacher pay?

Jobs that require direct interaction with clients on a personalized basis.

Not sure I agree with that, especially in response to personalized AI tutoring.

Right now customer-facing AI is mostly relegated to chatbots on retail websites, but I think we will see a change pretty quickly. Clients will always (at least in the foreseeable future, in my opinion) want a human contact to fall back on, but I can envision a near future where that human interaction is greatly reduced from today.

As for what jobs any of us will have.. we’ll all be building power plants if AI really takes off.

Could have sworn that we just have a global event that proved that less face-to-face learning was detrimental to kids developmentally and in terms of attainment and retention.

Maybe I just imagined that.

Our educational system is ripe for disruption and AI tutors and adaptive teaching assistants are absolutely going to be a part of it. If you look at the current home school models where the kids work on things as they are ready for them, couple that with personalized AI tutors, teachers for personal and emotional guidance and supervision, and also continue with things like sports, group projects, and other meaningful social interactions and I think you've got a much better model than what we currently have.

More focused and effective learning, more out of the class time for other life skills and less sitting in desks.

The world will always need engineers, but crappy paper pusher engineers are going to be rendered useless.

Well sure, but the handful every city had is different than all fast food workers, teachers, and other jobs where 100s or 1,000s of people in a city are being replaced. I’m retired, just hope it all works out

I imagine AI can absolutely crush test prep.

So any national test/ SAT ACT Ai tudor is probably very functional

I see it as a net positive as long as the AI algorithm isn't brainwashing kids with liberal progressive ideology the way many teachers are in blue states.

Busy plumbers and electricians are already making more than a lot of doctors and lawyers

An often pushed narrative by the OT. I've worked with a bunch of plumbers and electricians. I also live in a neighborhood with doctors and lawyers. I keep waiting for one of the plumbers to move in the hood, but it hasn't happened yet.

Wouldnt be healthy for the kids to be taught every single day by a screen and a fake robot person.

Everyone needs human interaction.

Teach them to not question the screen/AI and remove what little critical thinking skills they have left. We will have ourselves a generation of completely mindless bots who are none the wiser to their plight.

The young kids are using some program that combines studying with brain rot videos and it helps them retain info.

A plumber isn't making a ton of money. The dude who owns the plumbing company is.

New construction plumbers are killing it until the market slows down

Hope this helps
