Caroline Grueskin ??????? @cgrueskin

John and Dathel Georges have purchased the TP’s assets. For 30-45 days, companies will operate status quo. Later, there will be a single NOLA newspaper with both logos on the masthead.

Company tells us we are not taking on the TP’s employees. We will be hiring, but it’s unclear how many people. Sending my best to the talented staff @NOLAnews today.

The only thing the advocate is good for is lining crawfish tables and gerbil cages

If Jarvis DeBerry is now out of a job, I'll be happy with this.

Funny that the T-P refused to sell to Benson when he approached them and now he sells to the Advocate. The Advocate is frustrating because they have yet to figure out that people in the New Orleans area do not want Baton Rouge news. It is clear that they take the cheap way out and just print much of the same news in Baton Rouge as they do in New Orleans.

Not shocked. The advocate bought Gambit last year, and lately had been putting more resources into NOLA. Meanwhile, the T-P continued to suck and get shittier.

The Advocate had already hired most of the decent TP writers and staffers anyway, over the last 4-5 years.

The TP decided to go primarily digital and then laid off all of the veteran journalists. They ended up at The Advocate.

This is somewhat poetic.

This.

There was a time when the editorial board of The Advocate was reasonably even-handed in their choice of syndicated columnists and their decisions on which "Letters to the Editor" to publish. Since Georges took over, it has become a typical (like USA Today) left leaning rag that touts anything the Democrats want to see in print.

It's interesting to see that virtually every article in the "A Section" has a byline. I guess this "legitimizes" the insertion of opinions in every "news" article - no more focus on who/where/what/when. Everything is slanted toward "why" (as viewed through the lens of ANTIFA wannabes).

Advocate owner John Georges was a DEKE at LSU for those of you who may not be up on your history.
